Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Old Quarter of Hanoi is full of life and culture! The narrow streets, local shops, and street food make it a unique experience. A great place to soak in the atmosphere and explore Vietnam’s rich heritage!

Decent and cheap. The hard set was cheap and easy and explained things well. Not heaps to see. Pretty basic but some interesting.

This place took us by surprise. We walked in out of the noise of on-stop Hanoi into a serene set of gardens, interesting architecture and even more interesting history. There's a lot to take in and even with our excellent guide, we didn't really manage to spend the time it justified. So many interesting facts about how students learnt and were judged - hard to do justice to so many years of history but well worth the visit.

As part of our tour, we stopped here just to take pictures with the vivid red vermillion Japanese bridge in the background. Lots of people just enjoying the beauty of the area.

A very nice museum showing the different ethnic groups that make up the Vietnamese people. The outdoor buildings are examples of the different housing throughout Vietnam.

I went to Vietnamese Women's Museum with my fiancé last week and the entire experience was simply eye opening. We've gained lots of knowledge about wedding customs, all the amazing women and mothers and their sacrifices throughout Viet Nam's history. The service was incredible, everyone was very helpful and hospitable, and all in all, it was nothing short of phenomenal!

Nice but not fabulous, this well kept and impressive building is worth a stop as you explore Hanoi. Often open, you usually enter via a side door. Be sure to light a candle.

We visited on a cloudy day but still had good views and overall enjoyed an hour or so over 'sunset' time. They don't list the ingredients on their cocktails, so if you want to select something based on your favourite spirit(s) you need to know your cocktails. They have really strong internal lighting which gives reflections on any photos you try to take through the glass. They have interesting art and extra experiences such as virtual gliding and games, and a robot trolley delivers drinks. There's a large supermarket and posh shopping on the ground floor of the complex.

Reasonably well kept and curated, exhibits have a sameness about them. Most exhibits are about the wars with the French and Americans. The exhibits on ancient Vietnam are the most interesting. Worth a stop but if you miss it it's not a major loss.

Had a lovely early morning at the Tran Quoc Pagoda. Very peaceful place before the loads of tourists start coming in.

Nice place to visit, away from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi centre. The Pagoda lasted 2 World Wars and a piece of Hanoi history. A must see when you are in town.

Very picturesque with a peaceful atmosphere. There is a small shrine and display at the northern end of the lake that houses the two giant turtles that lived in the lake.

At night the shrine in the middle of the lake is lit up and the streets that surround the lake are cordoned off to vehicles and becomes a walking street.

Once that happens the atmosphere turns into a combination of romance and energy as they're many street vendors and couples littered through the lake.

Fun, creative show, you get an interesting view of Vietnamese culture. It's all in Vietnamese, so it's hard to follow. Just enjoy the impressive visual effects. Shows are around 50 minutes.
