Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- R958_JamesManchester, UK63 contributionsWe took our kids around - and they enjoyed it as much as we did - well worth a visit if you find yourself in this part of the city and don't have other plansWritten 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JONO5K1London, UK755 contributionsTickets are 40,000 for adults, though concessions are available. On-site toilets were clean and well maintained and there are cafes/restaurants too. Not the best option for a rainy day, however, as the most notable exhibits are outside in the form of traditional structures which are in my opinion the gems of museum. Personally I thought the general inside exhibits were mediocre, with the main drawing point being those which are outdoor alongside the cleanliness and spaciousness of the complex. I would recommend nonetheless.Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- eliza248Great Missenden, UK121 contributionsI would grade this as good rather than very good. We took the audio tour as well, but you don't really need it as you can get the gist of most of it from reading the captions. Found it hard to sometimes find the numbers to play the recordings too. The best things were the video clips and listening to the women's real stories on the audio tour especially with their contributions to the war and society. However, I would recommend the Prison museum over this if you only have time for one.Written 14 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Norm the NomadAustralia1,300 contributionsTerrific place to visit.
The Cathedral is a good example of neo-Gothic architecture and is a standout landmark in Hanoi. Its intricate stained glass and peaceful interior make it a wonderful place to visit. It is easily located, surrounded by cafes and shops.
We visited during a wedding and were warmly welcomed inside. it was a unique experience, offering a glimpse into Vietnamese life and Hanoi’s French colonial history. It is free entry.Written 11 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It is now in the suburbs a 20 to 30 min drive out of the middle of town. (Using the Grab App its still only a few pounds) Head for the Vincom Megacity Smart mall (A moders shopping Centre) and its the other side of a dual carriageway with an underpass.
The new museum is large - massive comcrete multi story building with large galleries (some of which were not finished when we visited.
The external displays are generally the ones which were previously displayed in the old museum in town. As you enter the museum grounds to the left are US Aircraft and tanks, to the right Vietnamese aircraft SAMs and Radars.
Fortunateley some of the political propoganda of the old museum has been toned down - after all somewhere claiming to be a Museum presents facts and artefacts not a one sided biased account. The new museum is still a long way from being an impartial account of history but its better than the old one.
When we visited the museum had been open a week, some of the galleries were empty and the escalators didnt work. It was free for the first month and it was heaving with visitors. The obvious bias aside this is an excellent museum displaying the tanks aircraft etc with lots of space around them and very accessable.
Very well worth the trip out of the City to visit it.Written 11 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was located near to a very busy roundabout. Can see that the building had a lot of history. There was a cafe located right at the side of the opera house as well where we got some breakfast and coffee. I thought the building was more pretty at night with the lightings.Written 14 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - petrescuandreiAmsterdam, The Netherlands848 contributionsThe Vietnam National Fine Arts Museum in Hanoi is a great place to dive into Vietnam’s artistic heritage. It features an impressive collection from talented Vietnamese artists like Nguyễn Phan Chánh, Tô Ngọc Vân, and Bùi Xuân Phái, showcasing everything from traditional Buddhist art to modern and contemporary pieces. The art is beautiful and tells a fascinating story of local culture and history. However, one thing that really stood out, and not in a good way, was the number of young people using the museum for photo sessions. It felt like every corner had someone posing, which made it harder to enjoy the space and focus on the art.Written 21 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - carl O14 contributionsA museum dedicated to Ho Chi Minh.
There is virtually no English language with the exhibits. So you need to be interested in The Vietnam War to visit this museum.Written 20 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - suttontraveler1Omaha, NE32 contributionsMy wife and I took the overnight Lotus Train from Da Nang to Ninh Binh. We were in the VIP room for 2. This is the second time I've taken Lotus Train, and both times, the ride was enjoyable and the service really good. We enjoyed eating the snacks provided in the room--and most importantly, are grateful for the car attendant who was a big help because my wife's existing fever (got sick in Da Nang) got seriously high and the attendant, Mr. Duy, brought a cooler filled with warm water and a cloth. He gently placed it on her forehead and showed me how to change it every 5 minutes. At the end, it was helpful as her fever came down. Thank you Mr. Duy! I should mention that communications with Lotus Train management was easy and quick. If you want a fun overnight trip (why fly when you can sleep on a train), take Lotus Train.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
