Lot of people trying to get you inside bars or for ping pong shows. Try to avoid them. The 7/11 was packed to the brim so dont expect to get a beer there quick. The sanctuary is well organized. there was a nice balance of education, hands on activities with the elephants and a tasty meal. I loved learning about the elephants and their mahouts. The elephants were calm and looked happy. It looked like the sanctuary cared for them well.
Super clean bathrooms and showers and secure lockers were much appreciated. The sanctuary took lots of photos and made them available for no additional charge. Activities possible here too and you can not miss the long walk along the beach and have that 'calm' feel. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Wanderer465827655221 contributionWe visited Freedom beach November2024, taxi there 300bht from Patong, when you arrive there is another 300bht per person to transport you down the winding trail/ path / road. I'll be honest the 300bht for the ride is worth every penny, especially for the journey back up. If you fancy the climb mske sure you have decent foot wear.
The beach it's self is lovely white sands with turquoise warm water as you would expect.
There are no sunbeds to rend or umbrellas so be prepared to burn.
There are a few shady areas if you need to get out of the sun.
There are stalls selling beers and barbecue chicken and fish priced reasonably cheap.
Overall a great day out, I would definitely recommend, just not the climb up and down.
