- CamilaSanta Cruz do Sul, RS20 contributionsJoy Elephant Sanctuary is an ethical place that truly cares for the elephants. They don’t offer activities like bathing or riding them. You can only touch the elephants while feeding them; the rest of the experience is about watching them roam freely in open fields and being taken for walks.
We also made Thai inhalers, enjoyed a delicious lunch, and had fun bamboo rafting. The waterfall was beautiful, and the whole experience was very peaceful.
It’s a bit far, but worth it. The driver was excellent, and everything was well-organized. Some pretty good wave trains and quite a few class 3 and 4 rapids, in quick succession. Less floating and rowing required than in rivers I’ve run in California. Plus we saw elephants 😀. Safety was emphasized, with two kayaks following six boats. - Heather D35 contributionsBest day in our entire month in Thailand, it was amazing to do the rafting through such beautiful surroundings, it was a good length and the river was a perfect balance of being exhilarating but not scary. Our guide, Mike, was really friendly and very funny! Thank you Mike for an amazing day 😊 After the rafting the natural slides were good fun, and Mike also was great at showing us animals and plants through the jungle. - Sophia L2 contributionsThe Khampan Rafting tour was amazing! Everything was great from pick up to drop off! The rafting part was not too hard (at least when it’s low tide), so suitable for most fitness levels. We saw many elephants in their natural habitat, which was awesome. The vegetarian pad thai lunch was lovely, and they provided fresh fruit too. Sitting by the river in the hut eating the lunch elevated the experience. The best thing I liked about this tour is that they take lots of photos for you so you don’t have to worry about taking your own photos….and at no extra cost! The tour was outstanding. You will experience adventurous activities during the day, and then we sit at the terrace of the homestay to calm down at night with astonishing veiw. The food was delicious, and the homestay was clean.
