Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- James ThompsonLeyland, UK15 contributionsFantastic service. The bike I hire was a Honda 350 scooter, a bigger scooter so more expensive but well worth it. Loads of room and good cruiser.Written 14 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paris Wilson9 contributionsAmazing and easy experience with bamboo bikes. Clash was super friendly, helpful and laid back with everything which made the whole process enjoyable. We rented the bike for 3 days initially to ride to pai and back and extended it an extra day with no problems atall. Couldn’t reccomend enough. We told all our friends to go there too and they also feel the same! Cheapest in town too!
Thank you again Bamboo Bikes for your efficient and generous service!Written 12 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The staff were friendly, efficient and helpful, communicating with me regularly to ensure that I had a scooter that suited me. Their prices are competitive and they have a good selection of scooters available.

Everything was perfect, the treatment was unbeatable, the bike was great. The young boy and girl who run the place recommended a market for us to visit and even asked us for a taxi for the transfer. - Tidemann7 contributionsI hired two different 300cc for some easy mountain riding. 🏍️ Bikes were in top condition and they did a safety check of them before each hire, which was comforting. 🙏🏼 Clean and good performing
Cruising the jungle mountain roads was a peak experience ⛰️
Dealing with the company was very pleasant and professional 👍🏼Written 4 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We usually do an easy cycle tour wherever we are and this ticked all the boxes. The route was flat and the bicycles were in good condition. I took my own gel saddle over with me. We were in a group of 4 and the pace was just right. We cycled around 20km in total but it was well paced and we had engaging information from our guide at interesting stops eg the local crematorium, a temple, an area of ancient ruined temples. There was a stop for drinks part way around.
We were collected from our hotel and we ended up with a cooked lunch in what I can only describe as a children's petting zoo/play area/cafe/garden. Complete with meerkats !
It was a fun, quirky and easy cycle trip and excellent value.Written 30 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This was the first rental shop my husband and I went into when we started looking to rent 2x Scooters to ride the Mae Hong Son Loop. After spending the afternoon looking at dozens of other hire places we came back to Happy Days because they had the bikes that we wanted, they were in good condition with full service history and the price was competitive. The salesman and the owner went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the bikes, helmets and the deal. The bikes didn’t skip a beat on the ride and there were no issues about our full deposit being refunded when we returned the bikes.
Very happy with Happy Days.Written 23 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Jesse S7 contributionsGreat experience! I went to Chiang Mai to explore the mountains by motorcycle and POP Big Bike rentals made it easy. I couldn’t settle on which bike to rent so I decided to try a few different options over the duration of my trip. My first rental was a Honda CBR650R which was perfect for a trip to the Temple of the Floating Pagodas. The next bike was a CRF300, fun for ripping around town. And the last bike which was my favorite all-around was the Honda NX500 which I rode to Pai and and a bunch of other mountain roads despite rainy conditions. At the end of my trip there was a freak storm that flooded the neighborhood I was in and left me unable to return the bike before flying out. The folks at POP retrieved the bike free of charge and wired my deposit back. I will be back for another round soon and am looking forward to visiting POP again.Written 4 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ANHALL9706287 contributionsRented a road bike from them for 4 days in CM with the intention of attacking the Doi each day; first bike I took was a specialised Allez which seemed in great condition until I hit the mountain and the chain begun jumping in the climbing gears. No worries though returned it and was given a Trek 1.2 which was in perfect condition and got me up the mountain no sweat (for the bike at least; cant say the same for the rider).
Friendly couple that run the joint cant do enough to help, were happy to accommodate my request for clip in pedals and an additional bottle cage as well. Lights, spare tube, pump, levers, multitool are provided and i think they have bidons and helmets available as well but I had brought my own.
They don't ask to keep passport and only require a small deposit.
Excellent service.Written 26 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Greg M25 contributionsI rented a bike from Mr. Mechanic on two separate occasions. The bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan S, a 650 cc tourer. It was a beautiful bike that was in great condition. I had no problems with the bike itself. They took my passport as a deposit, but that's par the course in Thailand so no qualms there.
The reason I'm giving 4 rather than 5 stars is the sparse safety equipment (just a few helmets, which were mainly builder's hard-hat style helmets rather than full-face ones, no gloves, jackets or trousers, and no check of my license. I can understand not checking for licenses for a 50 cc or 125 cc, but you're considerably more likely to hurt yourself or others on a 650 cc.
Also, not related to this company in any way, but be aware that unless you have an international driving license, you WILL be pulled over by the police and fined 500 baht (15-ish USD). Don't stress it, though - you can just drive off after you pay up, so it's really just a bribe for the local police. You get a sheet of paper when they fine you that has validity for 3 days, so if you get pulled over again during that time, just show them the paper and you can go on your merry way.Written 18 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Jack BoulevardKo Samui, Thailand101 contributionsWe recently rented a car from north wheels to do our border run up to Mae Sai from Chiang Mai.
The thing I like most about north wheels is that the prices they quote on their site are all inclusive, so what you see is what you pay unlike other companies where you see a price and think yeah that’s good but then by the time they add in all the extra charges it ends up being a lot more expensive.
Our car was in great condition and delivered right to our apartment with no extra charge.
They went through and noted all existing marks etc with me when they dropped the car off and were very friendly and helpful!
I will be using this company every time I need a car in Chiang Mai and I highly recommend them for other travellers.Written 6 September 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. All vehicles are in top condition.
We rented a bike for one week and were very satisfied. It’s worth it. If you rent here, then you are in good hands.Written 20 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - canerandagioBangkok, Thailand126 contributionsThe positives: bike in good condition, helmet, topbox, mobile phone holder, smiles all around, price in line with local market, good central location.
The negatives: as always, everything is OK until something goes wrong.
We were offered insurance, 100 baht per day for full cover in case of damage or theft.
Sounded like a good deal, so we purchased it, but we were still requested to put down a 5000 deposit.
When we returned the bike WITH NO DAMAGE, the technician was inspecting it and I went to the owner to satisfy a curiosity of mine: 'why do you take 5000 deposit if there is full insurance?'
The owner, thinking that her technician had found some faults (which he hadn't) immediately pulled out a piece of paper from her desk and showed that insurance only covers AFTER the first 25000 baht.
Lol, this was never mentioned to us, actually the contrary, I had asked positively if there was any excess only to receive a smile to confirm that everything was covered.
So we had paid 1000 baht of insurance for something which was different that we were told.
When the owner realised that there was no damage to the bike and that I was simply not happy having paid insurance on wrong assumptions she became rather unfriendly and REFUNDED the insurance money. At first she denied that her employees would have told us about this unrealistic insurance deal, then she accepted it and even smiled, but the whole experience was unpleasant.
I can only begin to think what would have happened if there HAD BEEN damage to the bike. She would have pulled up her magic paper and requested for 25k to be paid.
The insurance deals should be PROPERLY COMMUNICATED, hanging on the wall, and the insurance receipt should be provided, not just scribbled in thai on the contract.
All in all, now that I know about the insurance I would still buy from them, but I would warn any potential customer to read carefully what insurance actually covers.Written 30 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was recommended to rent from Vanessa by a friend and I am so happy I did. She is so friendly and charged me a great price for a high-quality motorbike, despite the fact it was high season and she didn't have many left.
She was also super understanding and kind.Written 28 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
