Wat Chedi Luang means Big Chedi, and it's quite understandable why's so called once you enter the Temple grounds.
First you enter a magnificent Temple with golden standing Buddha statue. When exiting, behind it you'll stumble upon a massive brick Chedi. It used to be 90m tall being the tallest in Thailand, but an earthquake demolition decreased it to 60m - still a very impressive site.

We reached here, as part of a taxi tour of Wat Doi Suthep, and other temples on the west of the Chiang Mai Old Town. It is about 6km from Wat Doi Suthep. Entry to the place is by purchase of a ticket priced at 50Baht. You must be properly attired, shoulders covered and with long pants, or you may be given a pants to cover up before entry to the compound.
There are a number of buildings here. There is a log cabin which is the seasonal residence of the royal princess, a eucalyptus wood log cabin which is the seasonal residence of crown prince, a two storey royal Guesthouse, a teak wood pavilion, a fern garden, and a water reservoir. The gardens with various flowering plants, including roses are well landscaped, well maintained, clean quiet and peaceful away from noise. There are sign boards explaining the various buildings here. We were there in the morning, and the weather was pleasant due to the elevation and the surroundings. We spent about one and a half hours, here to look around and capture some pictures. Wat Mahawan is a neat structure that reminds visitors of the past glory of the Lanna kingdom. - Alex P20 contributionsMainly noted for its unusual chedi this temple is a hidden gem. If you like temples I would recommend making a trip here for the main buddah as well. It is Burmese style and fabulously adorned with jewels. Makes a pleasant change from the typical gold Thai buddah. Very quiet and peaceful. - Thanh HAnaheim, CA107 contributionsWent to Toey Dim sum but it was too early and it wasn't open for business, We walked to Wat Si Don Chai for a visit.
Wat Si Don Chai is another big temple in the area, it housed in a large block of land with number buildings surrounding the main temple, its structure is quite beautiful with ornament decorated on its roof. Inside the main temple is similar set up to other temples in Chiang Mai, except the statue of its venerable sitting on a chair, first of all we thought he was a real person and alive, after few minutes we found out it is the statue. Cheese!!! amazing how they created a statue like a live person at first seen.
