Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia20,857 contributionsLocated in the very center of old town Chiang Mai, this is the absolute best Temple in entire municipality.
Wat Chedi Luang means Big Chedi, and it's quite understandable why's so called once you enter the Temple grounds.
First you enter a magnificent Temple with golden standing Buddha statue. When exiting, behind it you'll stumble upon a massive brick Chedi. It used to be 90m tall being the tallest in Thailand, but an earthquake demolition decreased it to 60m - still a very impressive site.
To the right are learning and living monk quarters with a library.Written 3 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Wat Phra Singh is on the western side of old town. It's an old richly decorated Temple dating back to 14c with several golden stupas. Amazing colors during our night visit just after sunset.Written 3 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Therefore I suggest visiting both temples at the same time.
Wat Pha Lat is a very serene and tranquil Temple set in the woods, and is also known as the Hidden Temple. It's calmer and less visited than others which makes your visit more enjoyable. It dates back to Lanna period and is located around a small waterfall, with a monastery attached as well.
You can reach it in 20 min taxi ride or take a hike through the woods.Written 5 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I suggest visiting this one, which is in the western mountains, reachable within half an hour drive from downtown.
It's a magnificent Temple with many Buddha statues - sitting, standing and reclining. Besides, it offers great city views beneath you from the viewing terrace.Written 3 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We learnt the basics of Buddhism and meditation through meditation practice and an interactive presentation given by KK. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone with an interest in Buddhism and Thai culture whilst in Chiang Mai!!!Written 14 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wilsonhocwSingapore, Singapore3,500 contributionsVisited here on Monday, 4 November 2024. A very unique "cave temple" to visit and explore in Chiangmai.
Interesting small tunnels inside this cave temple where you can explore the various Buddha statues. If lucky, you might see some bats flying inside the cave.
Outside the cave, there's some historical Buddha statues in the main ground. Also, there's a stairs leading up to the Chedi.Written 18 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrakiWorldTravelerBelgrade, Serbia20,857 contributionsOld town Chiang Mai is rectangular in shape, with a pond surrounding it. Around the entire old town area was a brick wall, on all 4 sides, with a gate in the middle of each.
That wall has partially survived as it decayed over centuries, and the only surviving gate is Tha Phae - the eastern gate. The gate still has its original wooden doors and the best surviving part of the wall is around it. It connects today old town with Chiang Mai night market and walking street.Written 5 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Lovely historical site with a beautiful Stupa
The site has ancient relics from early BuddhismWritten 22 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. as someone who has often considered following Buddhism this made my mind up, DON'T miss the chance to learn more.Written 21 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are many shops that sell products, range from big wooden furniture to stylistic wooden vase and crafts. If you are the one who love decorating your home, you will love this place. I visit this place many times but still love to be there if I have time. Reasonable price. Some products are the same as the ones you find in the night market of CM but I like to buy directly from the producers. It may be a bit in-convenient to travel there if you don't have a car.Written 30 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A certain death sentence for these beautiful insects.Written 24 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Other reviews have explained what’s there so I won’t. I must take exception to the review that said it’s not authentic Thai. I think she probably wanted to see the old traditional crafts from centuries ago being repeated. This is a place to find young modern Thai styles. They are nonetheless authentically Thai because they are Thai designs, made by Thai people in Thailand!Written 15 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
