Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Worthwhile boat trip using the day ticket to stop off on the way. Beware of the timetable though. Last boat about 7pm we missed it as the local told us 11pm!

There is not a great deal to look at. There is a Wat with some animals, all very nice. There are a couple of ferries busily chugging backwards and forwards to the other side and there is the general river scene which is ever changing and quite interesting. There are some food shops and street food but nothing much else.

We wandered through the canals of Bangkok on a water limousine by Supatra Boat
This 2 hour journey through the canals of Chao Pharaya river is an incredible experience. It started through the river and then we entered the canals. People of Bangkok still stay in the houses located through the canals. The crew and guide of Supatra Boat is super helpful, always smiling and are always ready at your service. Throughout the tour, they will provide you plenty of cold water and cold towels to beat the heat of Bangkok. We made three stops along the route. One at an old temple, 2nd at a local market and 3rd at a beautiful green cafe.
We spotted many Monitor Lizards as long as 1.5 m throughout our journey and it was a delight for us and the family to saw such giant creatures.
We think this trip through the oldest parts of Bangkok, is a must do, to know the heritage and history of the place better. We loved the way Supatra Boat service organised this tour.

The main attraction point at this pier for foodies is 'Wang Lang Market'. It's one of the favorite markets of Thai food expert Mark Wiens. The area also offers special interest for the fans of writer 'Lawrence Osborne' who resided here for several years while writing the classic 'Bangkok Days'. Wander around further towards Wat Rakang and you'll find a neighborhood with a unique charm and less high octane fueled than the neighborhoods at the opposite side of the river. Ideal for some strolling around.

Nice quiet flow around historical city centre. The operating hours are not the best time for turists in working days but this way you can as e. g. avoid boring walk to Chao Phraya river or a metro station after visiting Wat Benchamabophit Dusitwanaram. On Saturdays and Sundays it should operate whole day.

The orange flag boat is the best way to get around. It costs 16 bhatt per person (flat rate) which is about 40p.

The boat is a great way to see life along the river as well as all the tourist stops like the Royal Palace, reclining Buddha, Wat Arun, ICONSIAM shopping centre and many hotels.

The stops (piers) should be numbered, but not all are, so you need to keep track. The N stops are heading north from central pier (near Sathon) the S ones head south towards the big wheel. The N stops go up to 33 on the orange flag ferry route.

The other flag coloured ferries don’t stop at all stops, but they only seem to run at rush-hour. (We only used the orange one)

If going to Wat Arun you need to get off at N8 then get another ferry across the river. That’ll cost you another 5 Bhatt or about 12p.

The express ferry runs every 20mins and
Is the best way to experience the river vibe and avoid the Bangkok traffic.

Got off where the Grand Palace is and walking towards it. We were approached by an older man who was telling us Monday is a Buddha day so it is closed at 12:30 and pointing on the wall which we can only recognize the numbers as all was written in Thai. It was a hot day and he took out a map saying we can pay 100 baht for a tuk tuk which will take us to the Peace Buddha and to Thai Export and somewhere else. We didn’t think of any scam and at this moment, there was a tuk tuk and we hopped on. We arrived at this temple and went in, there was a guy who spoke very good English called Andy telling us a brief history of the Buddha but diverted the conversation to the gems export place saying how good value and good investment etc. We surely were taken to the gems factory x 2 then to an Indian tailor. Saw one of the Indian staff paid some money to the tuk tuk driver, glad my partner was firm saying we are leaving and asked our tuk tuk driver to take us away. Apparently the tuk tuk driver takes commission off these places in exchange of feeding them tourists. Our plan was ruined as didn’t get to see the Grand Palace nor the reclining Buddha, hope the Thai authorities see to these kind of scams and not let them ruin our precious time while holidaying. We see people’s kindness but they used our kind acceptance, it isn’t right. Just be careful
