The long distance trains now begin and terminate at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal, leaving the local trains here. I have fond memories of my SE Asia travels here and the booking offices. Sadly, the station is noticeably quieter with fewer trains. - cadgodLivermore, CA34 contributionsBangkok’s Airport Rail link is most convenient and cost effective way to get to Suvarnabhumi International. The line runs through Bangkok city center. It has only 8 stops. It takes approximately 40 minutes at most to get to the airport (Google for some strange reason thinks it takes 2 1/2 hours) from the beginning of the line. It’s scheduled for 1 train every 10 minutes ( it did as we were leaving on a Sunday of H. M. Birthday on July 28). At 35 Baht = $1.25 U. S. it can’t be beat on cost. There are buses/subways that can take you to the various stations and each station is about 2-3 miles apart. Unfortunately it is a cash only system and tokens can be bought at the kiosk on the platform. It is very cheap and there are machines with instructions in English to buy tickets (also ticket offices are available). It is not as extensive as in other cities but it is very efficient. The staff are lovely and accommodating, but be careful of a middle-aged tan-skinned guide at Surat Thani Train station.
He was so rude after I told him we had our car booked. Once to take me from Bangkok to Hia Hin and to return from Hua Hin to Bangkok two weeks later to travel home. Picked me up at the hotel and dropped me off at the condo and vice versa on the second trip. Always early. Ready to go. Courteous. Great communication. Reasonable rates. There are a couple of ferries busily chugging backwards and forwards to the other side and there is the general river scene which is ever changing and quite interesting. Fast response by whatsapp too. Will use again his srves for our future trips to BKK. This 2 hour journey through the canals of Chao Pharaya river is an incredible experience. It started through the river and then we entered the canals. People of Bangkok still stay in the houses located through the canals. The crew and guide of Supatra Boat is super helpful, always smiling and are always ready at your service. Throughout the tour, they will provide you plenty of cold water and cold towels to beat the heat of Bangkok. We made three stops along the route. One at an old temple, 2nd at a local market and 3rd at a beautiful green cafe.
We spotted many Monitor Lizards as long as 1.5 m throughout our journey and it was a delight for us and the family to saw such giant creatures.
We think this trip through the oldest parts of Bangkok, is a must do, to know the heritage and history of the place better. We booked his service for a day trip to Kanchanaburi from Bamgkok, and another 2 days 1 night trip to Khao Yai. He is very accommodating, friendly, drives us safely to our destinations, recommend good places to visit, provide excellent service from start till end, and he even took beautiful photos of us using his DSLR as an added service! His van is so new, we were the 3rd client to enjoy his luxurious,comfortable and spacious van. His rates are affordable too! His team of other drivers are also good, we had Mr Jarandon to fetch us from Suvarnabhumi airport upon arrival, and Mr Tee to send us to the airport to depart back to our country. Both drivers were excellent too, friendly and drives us safely as well. Engage Peter Bangkok Taxi service for your wonderful Thailand adventure! Entry to toilets is on Floor 1,and entry is 10 baht.Women’s toilets have toilet paper and are very clean.
