What travellers are saying
- AddisadvisorTitchfield, UK8,406 contributionsI write this as someone who lives in Shola area. It was Addis Eats/Goaddis tours who started taking folk to Shola M. Very good idea.
1. Far less hassle for tourists OR foreign residents... than in Mekarto.
2. Less traffic jams on the way in, in fact none.
3. Smaller and for a tourist more genuine view of the main market for the eastern suburbs..
4. Lovely people BUT do ask before taking pictures.Written 21 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - ckiarie2002keNairobi, Kenya266 contributionsGood road side open air market for purchase of local Ethiopia dresses and men’s shirts too for souvenirs.Written 19 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MusaAddis Ababa, Ethiopia5 contributionsThis "mall" is a unique place, you can enjoy Cinema, spa, playground for kids, and beautiful view... If you like shopping you should look around since Edna is located downtown of Addis Ababa. - Martin ZSwitzerland2,088 contributionsThis location is under the covered walkway of the Ethiopian National Theatre and about a hundred meter away from the National Café & Restaurant. The Gallery does not provide for a permanent exhibition, it is rather a place, which can be rented by groups and/or entities for a period of time, say, weeks or months. When I went there, I was lucky to meet the architecture students of the ‘Unity University’, who opened for their annual ‘Architectural Exhibition’ from 18-21 October 2018. The ‘Unity University’ is the first privately owned institute of higher learning to be awarded full-fledged university status in Ethiopia by the Ministry of Education founded 1991 by Dr. Fisseha Eshetu. It is also the first private university in the country to offer postgraduate programs leading to master’s degree in business administration (MBA) and development economics. The architecture students from 1st-5th grade have displayed several of their project designs, both individual building complex' and urban planning designs, as well as drawings and paintings. Two [2] of the young students who were present, in this case two female students, have masterfully explained their project designs and their thinking behind, very impressive indeed. There is hope that some of these students make their professional journey to become mindful professionals, e.g. to assist the authorities in an improved Addis Ababa City Urban planning and upgrade of the great number of ongoing seemingly haphazard building and infrastructure design and construction.
However, visitors may get information from the respective sources to find out in advance about specific events and/or exhibitions within the premises of the 'National Art Gallery'.Written 23 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - TGReviewsBristol, UK4 contributionsI love going to Asni's for good simple food and best tea! - MzungubabeNairobi, Kenya616 contributionsI had never heard of this gallery before, but a friend asked me to go to an exhibition there with her. Friendly curators so I signed up to their mailing list. Apparently they have a branch in London, UK too!Written 7 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- MsHaslundCopenhagen, Denmark170 contributionsSalem's was simply a little gem of a shop with beautifully crafted scarfs, blankets, baskets, jewelry, rugs etc etc etc. The space is really nice and cozy as well, and it's amazing to also be able to see the locals work on site, weaving the scarfs and the baskets. Definitely a must ... also great place to get Ethiopian souvenirs and gifts.Written 11 September 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- AlshamlanKuwait City, Kuwait18 contributionsIt was a great experience with Go Addis company, the top of professionalism, and it was a trip not between a customer and a seller, but a trip of friends. I loved the country a lot and found similarities between the culture of Ethiopia and the culture of the Middle East, of course I have another visit to EthiopiaWritten 28 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ThreeDugongsBrisbane, Australia315 contributionsBizarre little hideout. Didn't seem keen to sell, which is sometimes a plus. Interesting items and worth the visit if you have timeWritten 30 June 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Muluken GAddis Ababa, Ethiopia239 contributionsSmall shop in a private compound - great pieces of leather bags. Of course, too expensive for regular Ethiopians but the quality and design of both men and women shoulder bags tell how hard, carefully, creativity and time they took. Nice place for lovers of leather bags with personal touch.Written 27 October 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
