Overall the medina has retained its charm and authenticity while offering a great environment for foreign tourists: whether for shopping, eating, sightseeing or just wandering.
It is a local market, frequented by those who live here but there is shop after shop of lovely Tunisian fabrics, pottery, jewelry, and artwork, all at reasonable prices and bargaining is expected!

The city is criss-crossed with picturesque streets and shopping alleys covered, but the market is Castle Ribat and Great Mosque.
You will meet locals and visit Artisans boutiques and vintage style coffee shops along side with mosques and old houses..Awesome place for photographers too!
This little souvenir shop/cafe is located on top of a mointain that overlooks large hills and a small village.

Dar Am Taieb Sousse
No tourist shop but we adked if we could buy one if the smaller sculptures and we got a nice price.
Cute little shops hawking their wares, tasty little cafes along the way up to the views of the port just up the road.
Uniformity and at the same time diversity of white buildings with blue doors and windows, suvernier shops with reasonable pricing for good negotiators and lovely coffee places.
Just be strong, as with most countries in the Middle East / Egypt, when they try to hawk you into their shop .... a fir, No with a smile usually gets you away!!
