- Pistachon279Dublin, Ireland13,250 contributionsIt's the second time I am in this beautiful Mosque and it still impressed me with the design and architecture from inside and outside, it's the biggest Mosque in Africa.Written 30 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Abdu11ahLondon, UK31 contributionsGreat place to visit whilst in Casablanca - Had the tastiest pizza there. Good place to see and walk roundWritten 1 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- BedouinDreamsSouth Bend, IN72 contributionsTransiting in Casablanca, I discovered the airlines had lost my luggage. I had a super-long layover so quickly sped to the Morocco Mall to buy a few shirts, sandals, and slacks since my final destination for the trip was a severely underdeveloped country with few options for the clothing I needed. Morocco Mall did the trick! Although it by no means compares to Dubai Mall or any of the megamalls of the Arabian Gulf, it is more than sufficient for Casablanca. The food court is a bit dark and gloomy, and the kiosks there perhaps not totally up to scratch. But it's better to eat elsewhere in Casablanca, anyway.Written 17 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The tide varies tremendously from morning to afternoon with four tides in a day. You will find people playing some version of soccer on this beach from early morning to late night. When it's busy and the tide is in, it's chaos. You have children and families running in and out of the water, a soccer match every 50 feet, lifeguards squealing on their whistles for people to move back from the large waves, boys leading ponies and camels around to sell rides, people selling water toys for kids, nuts, pastries that look like samosas, coffee from the back of their trucks. It is chaos in the very best way if you're in the mood for it.
We've visited the beach on several different days and found it different every time. Sunday felt like ALL of Casablanca was there. Crazy crowded. The tide comes very far in so that's part of why it felt crowded.
You can walk along the beach for free. It is a public beach. You can bring a towel or your own lawn chair etc. BUT if you want to sit on the chairs and use the tables you see set up, you need to pay for those. For the full day it was 30 Dirhams for a table, two chairs and an umbrella. You can also just rent a chair for 5 Dirhams for the day. Men come around with money belts asking you for the money once you sit down.
The water of the Atlantic Ocean can be very cold. We've walked in when it felt like ice and when it felt cool but refreshing.
You can walk out for a very long time before the water gets deep and even then the lifeguards are blaring their whistles to keep you close to shore. There are currents that can easily pull you out.
Another thing you might notice is no planes overhead and no boats on this section of beach. You might see a tanker far far into the distance.
Just above the beach is a walkway (the corniche) that stretches all the way down to Morocco Mall (Africa's largest mall). It's a lovely walk. During the day, it's predictably very hot in summer and there aren't a lot of people walking along. In the evening though, it's very pleasant temperature-wise but can be very very crowded. There are a number of cafes and restaurants as well as a mid-way for kids so many many many families come down here when it's cooler in the evening to walk along the promenade. There's also an official soccer field where beach soccer is played. We watched the 2024 Beach Cup there with France and Belgium playing on the second of three nights.
I'm told there are far prettier beaches about 20-30 minutes south of Casablanca with crystal blue waters etc. We were happy for the authentic experience of the public beach. We had a pool back at the hotel for calm and privacy.Written 26 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
