Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- canadianballfanLangley, Canada184 contributionsJust a heads up you do need to book online in advance and pay for this activity but I personally find a short hike like this is one of the best ways to view a city when visiting. Like the Grouse Grind in Vancouver, Canada or Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona this hike provides amazing views of Waikiki / Honolulu and surrounding areas.
It is going to be busy and full of tourist so if you want a more natural hike there are plenty of other places on the island to hike and experience Hawaii’s nature and views. But for a quick and easy to locate hike from Waikiki this hike is a must. The pill box and tunnel at the top was also very cool and unique.
Also for the runners out there the run from Waikiki around the base of Diamond head was a very enjoyable and challenging run with some hills and scenic views along the coast.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. USS Missouri was amazing, give yourself lots of time to explore its expansion.
Skip the aviation museum, not much there. We didn’t take in the sub.
Pearl Harbour is definitely worth the trip, plan for a whole day if you are going to do some of the ‘extras’Written 21 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Althea LLansing, MI3 contributionsHumu Humu was amazing—saved us from a miscommunication mishap by calling us because we were a no-show. We didn’t get the schedule change— missed the text. But Humu made sure we got there.
My Ohana is from Makawao, we were there for my father’s funeral. My husband and I took the opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor where he was stationed 46 years ago, go down memory lane. So this was an emotional thing for me, my dad, fully Hawaiian, was born before WW II, in Maui when Hawaii was a territory. Felt full circle experience for me. Have to book in advance, and it cost money to snorkel here. Need cash to pay for parking and must have ID to enter the park. Not open on Monday or Tuesday.
Decent amount of fish, beach is nice and clean washrooms. Coral was not as colourful as I expected not sure if that was false expectations or just because so many tourist have damaged it over the years.
If you do some research and have a car you can probably find a free beach with just as good snorkeling.
But to guarantee a location where you will see a bunch of fish this spot will offer that. Also lots of volunteers on hand to educate you on what you are seeing in the water.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Water was perfect and sand was great. People were all in a great mood. Vendors were convenient yet not pushy and just promoted a great time. Highly recommended.Written 5 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lauren CLos Angeles, CA1 contributionBeautiful, clean beach! The ocean is calm here. There are some reefs if you swim farther out for snorkeling but nothing in shallower water. Just wish there was a public bathroom facility.Written 4 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Terese L31 contributions54 year old moderately fit female solo hiker. It took me 40 minutes to go up, taking it slow paced and many breaks to take pics and sips of water. It is definitely a good idea to go early. I got there at 8 on a Saturday and parking was easy. The coolness of early morning definitely helps. I found the way down to be much harder than going up. At the top the steepness of the steps was a bit scary for me going down, so I really took my time. It took me as long to get down as it did to go up. About halfway it is much less steep, so I could go faster like regular steps. The views at the top are absolutely worth it! So glad I did it!Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Terese L31 contributionsEasy walk on a paved path. There is a gentle incline most of the way. Many families with strollers. - blue_slinkieSan Marcos, TX10 contributionsI grew up here. There used to be more sand than ocean but that’s the effect of the currents. Still an awesome beach!! The bird man is great to watch! - Darren LQueenstown, MD913 contributionsThis was an amazing opportunity to see a battleship and better imagine life on board. We were on a tour and given limited time. To see this properly, allow 2 hours or more.
There are free tours with volunteer guides on the main deck. Well worth taking. However, you must allow even more time to travel below decks (entered toward the stern of ship). Additionally, allow 20 minutes to go up and see the bridge.Written 19 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
