What travellers are saying
- Chris M20 contributionsWe are so glad we did the tour with an experienced driver. The roads are treacherous and parking is difficult to non-existent. This was an 11-hour journey. Our guide, Lynn, a local Hawaiian native was quite the colorful character. But he knows the route and all the minor details and best places to stop.
We learned so much about Hawaiian history. From the Turtles on the beach to the rainbow Eucalyptus trees, to the Black Sand and Red Sand beaches, plus the best waterfalls. Cool stops, shops and our treats were good and lunch fantastic.
We highly recommend this tour group. Great experience. Best bang for the buck All Day adventure.Written 29 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - DanielMonticello, IL9 contributionsThe widest section of the beach is in front of the Sheraton. This also happens to be where black rock is located. I highly recommend snorkeling around black rock and if your feeling adventurous jumping off black rock. I saw 2 sea turtles and multiple tropical fish. There are many ocean activities and adventures at this beach: surf lessons, paddle boarding, sunset cruises, etc..Written 24 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DavidHitchcock33Murrieta, CA235 contributionsAloha!
Went at about 3p with my 14 year old. Was not blasting like crazy, but was definitely worth it. Very easy for him on the way up and down. Saw plenty of younger kids doing it. Is it doable? Absolutely. Is it difficult? It can be, especially on the way up. I was exhausted.
My son and I only did it in slippas so don’t let footwear, or lacktherof, stop you.

Short, powerful waves crash of the shore making a lovely sound. If you get just past the break, you can float in the water and the waves roll up. Not many young kids come to this beach. The waves are much too strong for them. We saw a group of dolphins or porpoise playing around and jumping out to the water while we were swimming out there.
Suggest bringing a sun umbrella, cooler with some ice cold drinks, and lots of sunscreen. There is not much shade.Written 8 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - LarsieBDenver, Colorado, USA1,081 contributionsThis is a gorgeous beach in Maui which my family and I thoroughly enjoyed, but be careful because the water can get quite treacherous - I got seriously dumped here (even though my photos don't show massive waves). You also need to be careful with the rip because it can start pulling you towards the rocks which makes it more dangerous, but even so we loved this beach and had a lot fun with our boogie boards and body surfing. I also really appreciated the fact that there was a lifeguard on duty and a beautiful park with lawn you could sit and have picnics, outdoor showers and toilets and parking nearby too. I love this part of Maui and highly recommend going to Kamaole Beach III (or any of the three Kamaole beaches)!!Written 18 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Teresa1 contributionWe had a fantastic experience at Maui Brewing. The service was fast, and the food and beer were both beyond delicious. Everything that came out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing (making it so hard to choose what to order!), and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We ended up having the pulled pork sliders and a jalapeño bacon chicken sandwich which were some of the best sandwiches we’ve ever had! Now we can’t wait to go back again to try their pizzas! Could not recommend this place enough, and plan to visit Maui Brewing again and againWritten 17 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ITRTVirginia37,879 contributionsOne of the nicest beaches is Wailea Beach located near the Four Seasons and Grand Wailea Resorts. The public access pathway runs the length of the beach is well-maintained as are the free restrooms, showers, and parking. When we were there, people were mostly sitting on the beach and enjoying the sunny day. The crescent-shaped beaches are wide, and the waters were quite calm. The beach is lined with palm trees and is easily recognized as a luxurious place to beWritten 16 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- midawg73Bay City, MI79 contributionsIf your looking for cheap souvenirs or unique items this is the place. Besides clothing and packaged food items they also have food booths for some quick bites. Make sure you try surfing girls shaved ice. It was so good. They also had a few booths with antiques/collectibles. The admission is .50$ and is well worth it.Written 29 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- DanielMonticello, IL9 contributionsWe really enjoyed this easy hike along the coast of Kapalua. The public parking filled up fast so we paid 10 dollars to park just a few steps away. I would recommend going out on the rocks to see the tide pools and to get a better view of the coast line. We loved the view of the island of Molokai and the rugged coast. We also learned that the Ritz-Carlton has to build farther back off the coast because when they were digging during construction they found a burial site.Written 26 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Keith LMilton, Canada21 contributionsDon't come to Maui if you don't plan to go to the top of the volcano
The trip up and down is awe inspiring
Some of the best beauty I have witnessed
They summit even tops that
Incredibly clean facilities
Takes a bit of time but worth every minuteWritten 29 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Wayne HMaui, HI95 contributionsMy wife and I had a pleasant afternoon at the Maui Ocean Centre. Our favourite areas were ‘The Living Reef’ and the exhibit about Kaho’olawe. We spent about 5 hours, which felt about right. I should say that we are the type to take our time and read most of the interpretive material.
The restaurant had good food. I would recommend it to adults or families.Written 27 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - MandyGranbury, TX50 contributionsMy favorite place to snorkel in Maui. The short walk to the bay is beautiful through the lush forest and a few wild chickens running around add to the experience. When you swim out to the reef the underwater life is fantastic. Eels, sharks, bait balls, puffer fish, just an array of everything.Written 11 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- David SSnohomish, WA18 contributionsWe've done both sun rise and sun set both have pros and cons. Sun Rise has an awesome call out to the sun to rise and shine - gave me chills listening to the story and watching the sun come up. But it is EARLY, cold and CROWDED!
Sun Set has become our new favorite. It's the same stunning view just not as crowded (it's still crowded but less than sun rise). We pack a picnic dinner and chill out watching the colors across the sky. This last time however we were clouded out - which was still fine, the company and laughs were worth it.Written 27 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Michael and Deb... TGilbert, AZ27 contributionsUnbelievable, too big to take a picture. Nice shade in the middle of town. Largest tree in ground size in the world maybe? Takes up a city block.Written 5 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Regina FIrvine, CA45 contributionsThis bay has many interesting geological features, tide pools, and turtles. It is not as crowded as other beaches. Great spot for snorkeling.Written 18 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
