Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Jim KShawnee, KS268 contributionsThe stop was simply amazing. I’ve been to the Grand Canyon several times. The view from the summit overlooking this Canyon in Kauai was one of the more breathtaking views I have ever seen.
From the rich vegetation, various shades of vegetation and rock, as well as the cliff formations and the waterfall, made this a surprisingly outstanding visit.
After you leave the park, go down to the village of Waimea and stop at Coconut Corner for a fantastic smoothieWritten 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. While we were there a seal and many beach turtles were sleeping on the beach. Volunteers did create a perimeter to protect the animals but you could around close to them to get pictures.
The snorkeling was great here even very close to the shore. I was actually worried about stepping on sea urchins, that is how close they are.
If you do make it here make sure to get a hot dog at Puka Dog, they were incredible!Written 16 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The cliffs are enormous and you lose all sense of perspective looking up at them from the water. There are gorgeous hidden beaches and sea caves to explore as well. It can get rough out there on windy days if you take the water approach to seeing the park, but you need to get out there and see it for yourself. No words do it justice.Written 27 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dmitriy4 contributionsGreat place to learn about how coffee is grown and processed. Self-guided tour is very informative and you can do it at your own pace.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ORMumLake Oswego, OR153 contributionsBeautiful falls very close to the Lihue airport. We went to the falls right after we arrived at Lihue airport and picked up our car. It is an easy 15-30mins drive by car and there is a small parking area where you can park and go to the viewing area to see the waterfalls from the top. There is not much else to do after you've seen the falls, so we drove back and stopped at a fruit stand on the way back. We spent about 30mins max at the falls.Written 10 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- brigitteSteamboat Springs, CO2 contributionsFave beach was Anini (North) and Poi Pu (South). Kayaking to Menehune Fishpond… drove to The Canyon… food was great.
(Happy Talk, Postcards, holey grail doughnuts, Kintaros, the night markets, 1Hotel). Shopped for vintage stuff. Fave island so far… it’s lush and green.Written 28 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I wouldn't say it was worth going out of your way to find, unless you had never seen a spouting horn before. It is a quick stop to take some photos and then to carry on with your day.Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gary FCastle Rock, CO677 contributionsA beautiful area and beach. Good for a walk. Town of Hanalei is a good place to get something to eat, drink or grab a shaved ice.Written 6 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Rainee ESeattle, WA53 contributionsOne of my favorite beaches! Favorite in Kauai and in the top 10 best I’ve ever been to. Beautiful soft sand and clear blue water. The surf can be rough, depending on weather. Parking is tough. We followed the advice on Trip Advisor to park on one of the small roads where parking is free (versus a private drive). The beach wasn’t overcrowded.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- ChandlersFordersEastleigh, UK69 contributionsWe took the 3hr docent lead tour of the gardens. Sharon was passionate about the gardens and was very knowledgeable about the plants and history. It is a special place to see rare endemic plants.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kathleen SMelfort196 contributionsThe Mahaulepu Heritage Trail is hard to find because there is little to no signage, that we saw. Nor are there trail markings along the way. You basically just follow the beaten path. We ended up doing this trail from two different approaches. The first time we drove down a long dirt road with lots of potholes and the trail was rugged and through lots of prickly shrubbery. The second time we started from Shipwreck Beach, which I think if the official starting point, and the trek was much more enjoyable and picturesque. I would definitely encourage the hike starting from Shipwreck Beach. Lots of views and stopping points along the rugged coastline with the pounding waves of the ocean below. It was definitely the highlight. Shipwreck Beach was a great place to sit and relax in the shade and enjoy the Hawaiian atmosphere. The highlight of our first attempt was walking to the cave and seeing into that amazing site. We missed the opening hours of the cave, but the views from the outside were impressive. At that point we were also able to cross over a small bridge to visit a turtle refuge. The turtles are in enclosures and there wasn't any signage to explain why, or what type of turtles that they were.Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lynn NDelta, Canada189 contributionsThe tasting is free - you just have to pay a $5 fee to reserve a spot online for your party or group. Our bartender/hostess was fantastic (Gloria). Very informative and fun. Great sense of humour and really knew her stuff. The samples were really tasty. The rum is excellent quality and you end up making tastes of 2 mixed drinks while sampling. The store attached has all types of rums and different merchandise (pricey). When you visit there, you’re on the same property as the Luau and plantation/farm so you can combine your visit with a train ride around the property etc.Written 11 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - KevinL41872Nashua, NH480 contributionsGorgeous ride to the bay and spectacular views all around. A protected area for yachts, surfing and generally family friendly area. The Pier is fun to walk and the kids who jump off into the clear waters below. A little too shallow for my liking jumping 20 feet down into 8-10 feet of water, but the laughter of people is pretty cool. Stumbled upon a food truck and just soaked in the area.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Stacey BFargo, North Dakota4 contributionsI have traveled all over the world and been to Oahu, Maui and Kauai and this was easily the most beautiful beach I’ve ever been to. Having said that, you are driving 5 miles on a road where you are not going faster than 10 miles an hour. Expect that 5 mile stretch to take you over 30 minutes. We did it in a sedan, but you’d be better in a jeep or truck.
It’s not lit so get out of there before dark, it has no signage so keep your cell phone charged, and don’t even try if it has recently rained. But if you are the adventurous type, you will have this gorgeous beach almost to yourself. There are bathrooms. No lifeguard and big waves, so not great for swimming. Wonderful sand and beautiful views. Bring food, no place to eat, and you won’t want leave early.
One of the highlights of our trip.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Saw a lot of different kinds of tropical fish and my friend even got to swim with turtles. There are bathroom facilities and outdoor rinsing stations to wash off the ocean water. We liked Anini Beach so much the first time that we made a second visit to it during our Kauai stay in Lihue.Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
