Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We ended up having a private tour as no one else from our area booked the trip. Roatan Coolest People picked us up at the dock of our resort on Roatan. We arrived for lunch early, so lunch was not ready, so we snorkeled longer than normal, walked the cay, and chatted with our guide and some of the locals. There was only one other tour from La Ceiba, so we had a quiet lunch. We toured the old schoolhouse and saw a pod of Pilot whales on the way back to Roatan. It was a long day. Since we were the only group on the tour, we elected to do everything the guide offered.

One of my favorite stops of a 500+ mile 2024 mainland birding tour. The skilled guiding Erick provided to help find Yucatan nightjar, Agami heron, pygmy kingfisher, a white-necked puffbird pair, nesting common black hawks, and a couple of bat falcons (along with howler and white-faced monkeys, a kinkajou, an arboreal tropical porcupine, and a nocturnal tree possum) made this trip more than memorable.
Isabel's food exceeded the birding AND she provided my favorite: fresh lemongrass tea!
    I WILL BE BACK!

Clean and punctual and reasonably priced. Slightly cheaper to book online, they even arranged a taxi from the airport for us. Be warned, the terminal on Roatan is very basic and the ferry we had had no refreshments.

The rafting and hiking on the Cangrejal River are world class. There are several really good options for staying in the valley, but anywhere you stay you'll be surrounded by lush, beautiful forest, crystal clear water, and friendly people. Truly some of the best whitewater in the Americas.

This attraction is located on the boardwalk on Ceiba beach (in case TripAdvisor posting is still inaccurate and puts a pier in the center of town). Escape the heat and find graffiti art, cool breeze and a view of the city with mountains in the background. There’s not a lot to do in Ceiba but if you’re here, this is one that you should see.

There are two ferries per day in each direction from La Ceiba to Utila and you should get to the wharf half an hour beforehand to get your tickets. There is also a port fee to be paid from La Ceiba.
Baggage bigger than carry on must be stowed for an additional fee. There are first class seats available, but the standard seats are very nice and include access to upstairs and downstairs seating areas. There is a nice waiting room at each wharf which has some seating and free drinking water.
If you are prone to sea sickness you might want to take some sea sickness tablets. I was fine but my husband got a bit queezy.
On the day we were supposed to leave Utila the weather wasn't the best and the seas were rough and all ferries cancelled for three days in a row until the seas became safe again. Good call as safety is important, but keep in mind this risk when you are planning your trip and maybe allow a few days of buffer in case you are stuck on the island.
Prices are very expensive. You can pay by credit card for no additional fee. The journey takes about an hour and we paid 50lp per person for a taxi from La Ceiba wharf back into town, with the taxi waiting until they had 4 passengers before they would leave.

After a meeting we had a short visit to this museum. I was impressed by the collection of insects, even some butterflies from the Netherlands (I'm from there).

We really felt the culture of La Ceiba while visiting the centrally located Cathedral. We even saw the Bishop, who was very kind to us. There was plenty of activity buzzing around the Cathedral.

The tour is fun and well organized by Omar. It was a good way to break that long shuttle trip to Nicaragua, and see more of Honduras

Close to the center you can relax in this small park. Lots of stuff from the old railroadcompany and standardfruit company. NIce for picture but it's very small.

It is a shopping center, two floors, a variety of stores and a couple of fast food restaurants. Also, has a bank inside and outside.
