- StThomas’ ChildLos Angeles, CA195 contributionsWe spend the summer exploring and learning about our local LA County. Vasquez Rock fits this description. Nestled along the 14fwy, if you are on your way through Antelope Valley it is worth a stop. They have a new learning center (at least it was not here when I last visited) that has the history of the area and small exhibits of the key desert animals that we could encounter on a hike. A gift store too which was closed when we visited. They do a lot of filming in this area too. It was fun to reminisce about the shows.
They are doing all sorts of upgrades to the trails and educational places. They were putting up new signage along the hiking trails to explain important facts. They are opening new trails too.
It is a large area so you want to bring water if you plan on walking any trails. There are rock monuments all over that are rare and beautiful. If you enjoy American history, geology, and getting out and walking then you will enjoy learning and experiencing this place. I brought my tweener daughter, she enjoys hiking and lizards. She learned a lot. It is in the high desert so be prepared on a summer day to wear a hat, bring water, and use sun screen. You can spend all day or less than an hour. It is free.Written 14 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We had a great time learning about the animals and watching them play and eat snacks. We got to feed the horse. All of the volunteers were very knowledgeable and took time to answer our questions!Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Chona3855San Fernando Valley33 contributionsWe went for a Stompest,in October and donned our Lucy outfits for wine stomping contest and Lucy look alikes. This review is for that event. The Winery is tucked in beautiful country/farm setting with alpacas, chickens, donkeys. They have an outdoor patio for sipping wine and Gift shop. For this event, paid $65.00/pp with BBQ dinner catered thru Stonefire Grill, Wine & Cheese served and DJ. Got free bottles of wine for participating in the games. The Staff is very nice and accommodating. The Vineyards is pretty cool with the names of the wine it will eventually become. They do offer a Wine tasting tour, which we'll plan on doing another day.Certainly a good place to go for a days event with a Girls Day or your honey.Written 19 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 53Marie123Santa Clarita, CA3 contributionsMy friend and I went because they were having wine and chocolate pairing. The wine was good, the chocolate was amazing! The tastings (for the wine), is $10 per person, which is NOT waived if you buy wine. I was prepared to buy about $100 of wine, so I asked the person pouring if she would waive the tasting fee if I bought at least 2 bottles of wine. She said their wine was priced so low that they could not waive the tasting fee!!
I have been to Temecula and Paso and every winery I've ever been to has waived the tasting fee if you buy at least two bottles of wine. So guess what? I bought chocolate, but no wine! I went to Aqua Dulce Winery right down the road and was treated much better there and the wine was better as well. I don't see myself and my friend going back to Reyes.Written 20 December 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I had no idea what to expect when I walked onto the ranch, and I ended up experiencing such an incredible day. 2020 has been a hard year for everyone, and this workshop was exactly what I needed to reground and get back in touch with myself and the world. I felt rejuvenated and refreshed afterwards, and highly recommend signing up for a workshop.
We were a group of 3 women with our leader Andi, Horse Safety Manager Lisa, and photographer Jasmine. Master Chef Ed provided morning coffee (strong the way I like it!) and a delicious lunch on an open veranda. We had a full day of visualization and creative exercises lead by Andi. Not having done many workshops in the past, I felt very comfortable and supported by Andi (and everyone else), and I got a lot out of each activity. These exercises were interspersed with on the ground interactions with the Indigo Equine herd (currently numbering at 7 horses, 1 steer and growing). It was incredible meeting all of the herd and interacting with them. They are a motley crew to be sure, and have a lot share with their human interlopers!
The day was very full, but we never felt rushed, and it was very relaxing. The ranch is just gorgeous and secluded, but only a 40 minute drive for me from mid-city Los Angeles. It was a great escape, and I left the workshop with useful tools to lean into for my day to day life (not to mention the beautiful journal, water bottle, hand sanitizer and mask that Andi provided at the beginning of the workshop!). All the activities were outside and felt very Covid safe. Everyone was wearing masks and respectful of social distancing (except for the horses!).
I highly recommend booking a workshop at Indigo Equine if you are feeling a little ragged from the stresses of today’s living. Take a day to let Andi and her team take care of you – you won’t regret it!Written 20 November 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
