Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- O1080XEbrandonDallas, TX11 contributionsKenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens is a tranquil oasis in the heart of D.C. I visited during the summer when the lotus and water lilies were in full bloom, and it was absolutely stunning. Walking along the ponds, surrounded by vibrant flowers and lush greenery, felt like stepping into another world. It’s peaceful, with the soft sounds of birds and frogs adding to the serene vibe. There are also easy trails that take you through wetlands and along the Anacostia River, perfect for a quiet nature walk. Whether you're a nature lover or just need a break from the city, Kenilworth is a hidden gem worth exploring.Written 17 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Brendan SArlington, VA2,152 contributionsThis house was the location of Mary McLeod Bethune's National Council of Negro Women until 1966. She founded the organization and Bethune-Cookman college and hosted many famous dignitaries and civil rights leaders at this house while she managed the Council.
The House is only open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There is a free half hour tour of two of the floors of the House, which has several original pieces of furniture and many photos of McLeod Bethune. It does not take long to visit this site and it is worth visiting to learn this important history.Written 9 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I exited the Foggy Bottom / George Washington University metro station and walked to Georgetown. I went in the lobby of the Four Seasons Hotel and behind the hotel is the entrance to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. The walking path along the canal is paved and it is a very peaceful place. You can see the canal, locks, waterfalls, tow boats. At about 32nd Street it is not paved any more so I decided to exit the canal and go back to M Street. Maybe next time I will walk further on the canal.Written 17 October 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - LolaGo1Washington DC, DC6,624 contributionsIt is a historical park because in the old days, the Canal was used to transport goods and people from various places in Maryland to Georgetown, in Washington, DC. Note that there are several attractions located along this long Canal (up to Cumberland, in Western Maryland).
Jogging, walking. and biking are some of the activities one can do at this Park. Other attractions near by include Georgetown neighborhood: shops, restaurants, museum, gardens, and Potomac River.
Tips: Visit the other park related to this Historical Park that is located in Potomac, Maryland. Ride a boat pulled by horses, walk, jog, ride your bike, hike, admire the water falls, etc. - all these can be done at this other location. TripAdvisor calls this attraction = Great Falls Tavern Visitor Center. Its other name is the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal National Historic Park.Written 17 October 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Gail B2 contributionsIt is a park with some poor/homeless occupants, and it is also a park that gives the opportunity for people who have a HEART to help someone other than themselves--or just listen to someone's story of how they got there. Like in any community, there are good and bad people there. We are a very self-centered nation that has not been FAIR to all people...unlike others commenting negatively, I go there sometimes and my heart/time/$ goes out to the unfortunate in this park and elsewhere. One day many more people will be homeless--the very ones complaining about this park and its homeless population that has nowhere to go.Written 2 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Raintree_ThailandBangkok, Thailand4,443 contributionsWas entirely fenced and blocked off when I passed by. Perhaps not used anymore as visitors are processed through the White House Visitors Center across the street.Written 7 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
