Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- adventixBoston, MA2,006 contributionsThe Lincoln memorial is really a must see. The place is huge and inspiring. make sure you walk the grounds and climb the stairs all the way to the top. No tickets are required.Written 23 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- adventixBoston, MA2,006 contributionsI have visited the Washington monument and climbed to the top. This time we were not able to secure tickets. Nevertheless, the monument and grounds around are still beautiful and worth visitingWritten 23 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - F1LoverAnnLouth, UK291 contributionsA very sombre memorial. The place really brings home the sacrifice that the USA made in fighting this war. Very clean. Visiting in December meant that we had the place to ourselves. Felt very safe. Is very well maintained.Written 5 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Ofamily2014Chicago, IL126 contributionsDefinitely worth your time. They did a job well done! They have statues depicting soldiers walking up towards a battle area. They have a wall of names inscribed of those who served. I found it fascinating and beautiful.Written 8 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- PaperbackTacoma, WA5 contributionsThis is an amazing tribute to all those Americans who contributed to the defeat of Nazi Germany, fascist Italy and Imperial Japan in the Second World War. Built in a massive stone oval around a large fountain pool it is a dignified and impressive place that you experience as you walk around and explore. If you time your visit for sunset you will experience amazing views of the sun setting behind the Lincoln Memorial to the west and reflecting off the Washington to the east, as the lights come on and illuminate the War memorial fountains and walkways.Written 19 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BlueBassBoatCincinnati, OH123 contributionsWhile this memorial is a bit of a walk from the National Mall area and other landmarks, it’s still well worth the visit. The memorial itself is massive, overlooks the tidal basin, and dedicated to the third President of the United States.Written 23 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - F1LoverAnnLouth, UK291 contributionsA nice place to visit, and a must, given what this man achieved in his lifetime. It is worth the walk from the main mall, even though you do do a lot of walking.Written 7 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - F1LoverAnnLouth, UK291 contributionsThis is a must do on any trip to the Mall, because of the historical significance , and the achievements that this man achieved in his short life, before he was assassinated.one of the few places on the day that we visited this end of the mall, that was actually busy.Written 7 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - MrMrsHappyRLiverpool, UK1,474 contributionsA bit if a walk from The Lincoln Memorial but still worth it if you are inspired by Science and this statue is a fitting tribute to the great man. - psudinoWeehawken, NJ4,490 contributionsMy parents were the generation whose classmate's went to Vietnam. They knew soldiers and they knew medics. Many of the medics were women and these brave women endured not only the horrors of trying to help the victims of war, but were often on or near the front lines. These women are some of the toughest, more courageous people to ever live, and I'm glad that they are recognized by this monument near the wall.Written 15 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - NoraatcSudbury, MA40,665 contributionsNational Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is located right across the street from National Building Museum. Really sad to see the endless list of names of perished police officers. There are holiday wreathes and remembrance cards from their loved ones… very moving. Architecturally, this particular memorial didn’t impress me too much but maybe because the reflection pool is empty now.Written 22 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AcinetoAuckland Central, New Zealand24,062 contributionsI came by at night when it was pouring so I didn't have much time to actually enjoy the memorial. I did notice that there were two areas which were shaped like the bow of a boat and there was a mast in the middle. I did think I should come back during the day but never made it back.Written 23 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tracy DTonawanda, NY40 contributionsCould not have been more pleased with this stunning tribute to JPII! Moving exhibits detailing his life and dedication to our Lord and Mother complete with Relics. Spend some time and immerse yourself in the amazing life, ministry and obedience. Truly remarkable. A Saint whom has intimately touched our lives in so many ways. - F1LoverAnnLouth, UK291 contributionsMoving evocative place. The day we visited, the sun was shining, and being in December, we had the place alone, which all added to the solemnity, and enormity of the sacrifice that the soldiers made.Written 7 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - montanapescadoAlbuquerque, NM1,576 contributionsThis is far from the most impressive monument in DC, but it's a fine statue and quite appropriate to its subject's relative position in American history. The reason its a solid don't miss is its location, right along the path of most ant DC itinerary.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
