Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Melanie B2 contributionsLove kayaking at Fletcher’s Boathouse. It’s so peaceful and beautiful there. The staff are great and very helpful getting into the boats. Highly recommended it!Written 15 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- James S1 contributionCame into the building and walked into a nice vibe and good customer service. Michael made sure we were taken care of by giving us a free pre-roll with our purchase.Written 5 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TheTonyTravellerLondon, UK491 contributionsFab farmers market. Who says North Americans have a poor food culture - if you know where to look - not Safeway nor Albertsons - you find somewhere like this!
Amazing fresh produce - fruit, veg, flowers, meat, fish, eggs, dairy, bakery and the rest! Wonderful to visit in October with fat luscious tomatoes, peppers bursting with colour and all the types of squash you need for Halloween!Written 17 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A bit disappointed that only primary and secondary educators get a free membership -- I am an early childhood educator and thus do not qualify. I have a master's degree in early childhood development and education and teach for a living -- it's a bit ridiculous to exclude us from the category of "educator".Written 8 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BonnieNimmoMarble Falls, TX1,164 contributionsI walked over to pick up some souvenirs for some friends back home. This store has a large selection of DC gifts! You’re sure to find something for everyone on your list! Staff is extremely courteous and helpful.Written 27 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Kathryn HSonoma, CA396 contributionsDuring a business trip in Washington DC , I took some personal time and went to Chocolate House. As I walked down the stairs, my eager anticipation grew - I knew I was in for a real treat. I was not disappointed. In addition to beautiful chocolates that look like jewels and consist of high quality chocolates accented with fine coordinating and accents, they offer many different chocolate bars.
Go here to purchase chocolates for yourself, for your loved one (I purchased a box to bring to California to share with my husband - it took a lot of willpower to not eat some before arriving home), or for business associates. People who receive these chocolates will truly love the gift.Written 20 October 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's a real gem of a place with shelves practically floor to ceiling holding everything from first edition classics to modern fiction.
I was able to buy some lucky finds at reasonable prices.Written 1 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Customer service was as rotten as any place else this time in DC.Written 29 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Maasai891 contributionI’ve been a cannabis smoker for over a decade and I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to different states to experience different types of dispensaries, DC dispensaries are TRASH!!!! I thought Spliff would change my mind on that and it actually made it worse.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY WITH SPLIFF NATION especially in DC and I’m from DC so I hate to say. I paid $85 for 3.5 and was given something that looked like 2.5, they displayed the THC percentage but couldn’t tell me anything as far as the Terpenes the person on the phone was completely clueless. If you read this far trust me don’t be like me and lose your money and time shopping with Spliff. I promise you’ll be disappointedWritten 28 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. For those of us who, (while tuning-into the newer channels), still value the "old-fashioned" habit of wielding a Pen or Pencil, to note down a thought (I do it all the time for my "Trip Advisor" notes), or map-out some other thoughts for an Email or "Word" document, this is surely a rewarding place to visit.
Located on F Street, close to the Metro Center Station, this is indeed a fine Outlet. They have an excellent range - the "Customer Experience" varies a bit, depending on which staff member deals with you, as, from our experience, some clearly seem to have better product range/ knowledge than others.
Anyway, having perused Fahrney's extensive Catalogue, and having engaged with one of their less "sharp" staff members, we purchased a couple of items from the "Retro 51" range + a "Pen Sleeve".

Living in England, I can’t shop for furniture there, but I am doing well with other items! The shop inventory is so interesting and I am in my happy place while browsing! I’ll be back in 2020!Written 5 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Marcel HOegstgeest, The Netherlands203 contributionsGreat used books shop on the SE side of Capitol Hill. Two floors of an old home packed with books. A bit of organized chaos, but that is the charm of this place. Go in and see what crosses your path on the shelves. To get there, you can take the metro, but even better is a stroll from the US Congress on Capitol Hill through one of the oldest neighborhoods of DC with some nice small charming houses lining C Street. Definitely worth a visit if you like (used) books.Written 2 February 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BrandtlHudson, NY91 contributionsLocated in Georgetown right off the main strip. Daughter said that the macaroons were very good!
Just be aware that they do not accept cash.Written 27 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
