Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I arrived at the Memorial early on a Tuesday morning before the tourist and school groups arrived, and for at least 15 minutes had the Memorial to myself.
The Memorial is an impressive building based on Neo classical architecture and the sculpture of Lincoln is fantastic, The murals and inscription on the walls inside are also very impressive. There is some construction taking place outside of the memorial so this sails the exterior views of the front of the structure.
There are also great views of the National Mall, Monument and Capitol Building from the Memorial. It can become very busy at peak times so visit early as I did.

As the weather was poor, I decided to visit the museum, and it seemed everyone else had the same idea. As it ws free to enter, not time slots and Spring Break, it was organised chaos when you were inside. I didn't see as much as I wanted to due the vast amount of visitors, a shame really.

Plan ahead and get reservations before you get to DC. Admission is free but they are doing timed entry for crowd control. If you go on the weekend like I did, the line queues around the building, but the line moves fast. This is a must see for anyone with an interest in the history of flight and space exploration! Many of the galleries are closed for renovation (April 2024), but still plan to spend a few hours here! Highlights for me include the Wright Brothers and Neil Armstrong’s space suit!

For art lovers, this is a must-go. It mainly depends upon you about the time it takes to move around. If you love arts more than yourself then even a day or month does not suffice otherwise just two hours or may be an hour is great.

The most beautiful interior out of any building I saw in DC. Really colourful and impressive. It was really annoying that I had to scan a QR code and and put in my info right before entering, but atleast there was no line. I went on a weekday so maybe that's why there wasn't many people there.

A very sober experience. If your time is short or you are unable to get a free ticket, the three short films will give you an overall feel for what the museum is about. Highly recommended for everyone.

When I first heard what design had been selected for this memorial, I thought it grossly inartistic and unworthy of what was to be memorialized. When I saw it in person , I realized how wrong I was. This is utterly compelling and a must stop for DC visitors.

I was walking along the National Mall and saw the Korean War Veterans Monument in the distance.
The sculptures are very life like and the plaque to the fallen was very moving.

The National Mall seems to go on forever, but there are so many interesting things to see and visit along the way whatever the weather.
Early morning is a good time to visit when it is tourist free.

Our guided tour by one of the official Capitol guides was wonderful! Our guide, Lindsay, knew the answers to everyone's questions, knew every statue, every painting and was very engaging. Our family was really impressed with the tour and loved the detailed explanations of the rotunda ceiling painting, the crypt (and how there's nobody buried there) and our guide's genuine interest in the Capitol building's history.
Even though it's free, I recommend reserving a specific tour time and date ahead of time, online. You can try to join a tour on the day you visit but there are no guarantees there will be openings.
We were encouraged to take photos on the tour, but know that the tour does not enter the House or Senate chambers. If you want to visit the Senate or House of Representatives, you need to acquire free passes from your Senator's or Congressional representative's office. Visiting those places is not part of the guided Capitol tour.
