Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Views are amazing and there are so many photo points for the non-competing tourists with a camera . The cafe at the top corner gets busy and they close at 5pm so pls remember to get there before 4pm

A very moving tribute to just some of the innocent and what happened to them. Feels bad taking a picture. At the moment a lot of feelings about tensions elsewhere are publicised there as well. Along the river just up from Parliament

Best place to see the Danube is on a boat, on the river, so much to see and even better if youre able to travel up to Bratislava and Vienna as we did. Beautiful sights and the parliament building lit up at night is perfect to see from the river.

Home to the Monarchs of Hungary, Buda Castle isn’t a castle at all but a palace. Grandly situated atop Buda Hill, the Palace embodies over 1000 years of history from the arrival of the Magyar peoples to the first King - Steven- whom became. Saint, to fleeing upon the arrival of Ghengis Khan’s Army, the site has it all

Really cool market, similar to ones you can find all over the world. Ground floor has local and fresh food/snacks while second floor has actual meals and souvenirs. I liked that the shop keepers do not hassle passersby. There were so many local goods to buy (I'm sure several were mass produced, but some seemed authentic). There is also a fish market in the basement and a toilet (not free of charge).

A lovely spot to relax and get contemplative in Budapest. Excellent for a sunny day and perfect for flower lovers. There is a small Japanese garden, but my favorite parts are the wide lawns in the rose garden. Central and accessible, this is a must-do expedition before departing Hungary. Wear walking shoes!

One of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever stepped foot in, and I am a faithful patron of visiting cathedrals when I travel. On the "Buda" side of the river in Budapest, this cathedral sits atop a hill with a magnificent vista of the city beyond.

When I first walked in, I thought the church was tiled in mosaics. Instead, it is painted on every surface in Belle Epoque style images and geometric shapes. Apparently it was painted in the late 19th century and recently restored.

Not to be missed. Bring your binoculars. There is a lot to see. Be sure to go upstairs to the treasury for even more magnificent views, especially of the Art Nouveau angels.

In various places you will see the older medieval stone work with lions, saints and peasants. There is a black Madonna in a side sanctuary reserved for prayer and devotion.

Afterwards walk through the old city neighborhood down to the river. It was heavily destroyed in World War 2 but still has a magical feel of the peaceful old city of artists, musicians, and philosophers.

Having seen the prototype in Marlow, England, I was keen to see this full size version! It is good that each bridge has a plaque recognising the other. The Marlow version has traffic restrictions (metal bollards ensure that cars are driven VERY carefully) but the Budapest version, after strengthening in 1914, and rebuilding in the 1940s, is very much wider and stronger.
Interesting that the lions are made to the same design as those in Trafalgar Square in London too.

Everything in Budapest is pretty and this is no different. Plenty of photo opportunities and things to look at. Easy to get to and even in the rain, a magnificent sight

Absolutely loved this entire area while on a private tour! The entire complex of Buda Castle, Matthias fountain, beautiful architectural buildings, and colorful houses/buildings - absolutely amazing!!

The views are amazing from the top, a reward for the slog up the steps and pathways. The citadel itself was sadly closed off due to renovation work but we were still able to enjoy the vista above Budapest. The one disappointment was the amount of rubbish strewn around the area considering it's a UNESCO site. There were cigarette butts, plastic cups, general rubbish all around and some tissue paper clearly used by visitors 'caught short' without a toilet. Surely if it's a heritage site then it should be cared for and maintained, not utilised as a rubbish dump for people too lazy to carry their own rubbish back down with them. The situation is not helped by the overflowing bins that had not been emptied by the local authorities. There was a general feeling of neglect which was a shame for a site that has the potential to be a more enjoyable experience.

I can't believe this is a free to visit tourist spot! So beautiful! And the park behind the castle was gorgeous! My friends and I were talking how we can spend the whole da y there! I definitely want to go back and explore the area some more.

P.S. Behind the castle on it's right side you can find a miniature sculpture of Dracula. Turns out there are miniature statues like these all around the city and you can literally do a treasure hunt to find them all. (we highly considered it so if we go back we are definitely doing it!)

    What a find this was......!
As an avid pinball player in my youth what a few hours it was that I spent here. An incredible history of the pinball museum with at least 80 to play and it was all free. Not only that but there was a selection of old arcade games from space invader, frogger, shooting games and so much more. It took me back to my youth.
Loved every single minute of it and when I go back to Budapest I will definitely go back.

Nice sunny day, zoo entrance fee reasonable. Been to many zoos and this one is clean but yes cages and enclosures on small side. I loved the reaching element at this zoo. Like that bats were in a dark area so you could see them fly.

This was a really cheap bath to go to in Budapest. The 2 hour option is nice, you get money back if you leave within 2 hours. It's not especially pretty architecturally, but I loved going in a circuit of the indoor ice pool/hot pool/steam room. The outdoor pools and slides were already mostly closed in early September. Only 1 of the outdoor pools was heated enough to stay in it for any length of time on the day we were there, quite chilly.
