It was a quick ride to the airport. You can pay on board with a credit card at the door where the bus driver is. Cost is 2200.HUF at the time of this review. completely inadequate woman works there. I asked to change a small amount of euros, she not only insulted me with swear words (I spoke in English, but I understand what she was saying), she also rolled her eyes and threw the money so that it actually flew away, and all this while continuing to swear. as far as I'm concerned, it's her direct job to exchange money, and not to insult customers, it should simply be a mandatory item. how does she present her city to tourists???? also gave funds at a rate lower than in the table. It is located beside Kelenfold train station.
The bus station is very busy with local, inter-country and international buses.
You can purchase bus tickets there at the station or online as required.
There is plenty of information around to let you know where to go to catch your bus.
It was clean and felt safe when we were there.

Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Neil KLiverpool, UK829,468 contributionsI know how easy it is to jump a taxi to your hotel after a flight ,its convenient but its also expensive, it can make for a bad start to your holiday especially if you get a taxi driver who bangs on the hidden and unspoken tourist rate, myself I prefer to use the public transport system and visiting Budapest is great as their public transport system is comprehensive and cheap ,I purchased a 3 day B.K.K transport ticket in the airport HUF 5.500 ( about £12.50p ,November 2023 prices ) this 72 hour ticket allows you travel on the metro ,trams,trolley bus,ferry and some airport busses ,the bus I got was the 200E Airport Bus ,its located outside arrivals and brings you to the Kobanya Kispest Metro Stop ( blue line ) from this metro easy access to city centre ,its a great airport bus and a wonderful transport system and well worth checking out if you're planning a holiday to Budapest.Written 18 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jean B63 contributionsBudapest has an excellent public transportation system including trams, busses and even boats, but they only take Hungarian money on most busses, which makes it hard to use them. When we offered Euros, one bus driver shrugged and motioned us to just get on, another threw us out. We were later told the fine for being caught onboard without a ticket is 45 Euros.
Really big stations (few & far between) allow you to buy tickets or passes from the purple machine with a credit card or Euros. A 24 hour pass is about 5 Euros, a single ride a little over 1 Euro.
It is especially galling there are no ticket machines or shops selling tickets around major tourist attractions,
