Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Clean, spacious & smooth the metro will take you around the stunningly beautiful city of Budapest with ease. A single journey ticket purchased in advance will cost as little as 97p on your Revoult card, HOWEVER....... as so many others have said, you have to use it correctly. There are ticket inspectors praying on the unsavy & they are extremely aggressive. You have to validate your ticket at an orange stamp machine. They are not easy to see either. We were lucky we made such a fuss and didn't flinch when they threatened the Police, lots of arguing. They were not interested in anyone else while they had us, to appease & shut me up. One of the inspectors attempted to stop someone else who ignored them and ran up the escalator without chasing ! That was it for us. We pushed past them and followed the other chap up ! We got lucky, but they are clearly there to extract 25 English big ones off you per person.
Thankfully, other than making us feel like Budapests most wanted for the day, it hasn't changed our perspective of the most beautiful European city I've been to !

A cheap way to get up and down the river as some of the ferry lines are included in the all inclusive public transport tickets (weekdays only). The ferries offer great views from the river and have a little cafe onboard and (terribly smelly) free public toilets. The lower deck is completely closed in and the upper deck is open with some covered areas. The ferry stops are generally easily accessed from the tram and metro lines.

The Budapest Metro Yellow Line (M1) that runs from Vorosmarty Square and underneath Andrassy Boulevard out to City Park and beyond is extremely useful for visitors as it connects several popular tourist destinations including Vorosmarty Square, Elisabeth Square, the Opera House, Heroes' Square with the Millenium Monument, and City Park which contains Vajdahunyad Castle and the Szechenyi Thermal Baths. Plus, it a tourist attraction in its own right. Opened in 1896 as part of the Millenium Exhibition, it is the second oldest subway system in Europe after London, and it has been named a World Heritage Site. The historic white tiled stations with dark wood trim are beautiful and the stations and trains are clean and safe.

Similar to a lot of people. The transport itself is fine but the paying and using is very complicated. I have bought 10 tickets and found that I had checked in for me but not the wife. I have bought tickets but it was not clear how to use. Ended up being fined. It’s these little things that make me not want to return. Rude and arrogant people who are clearly after making a quick buck. Three locals walked straight past them while they are fining us!
