#1 of 131 Museums in Budapest
A tremendous enthusiast, I am always drawn to art galleries and Museums!
Now it is a museum of three floors with a beautiful garden - all with a wonderful view of the Danube, the Pest side, and the Parliament building.

A guided tour of a cold war bunker situated under Budapest, the museum provided a good contrast to the surrounding historic museums and an overview of the city's recent political history.
Lots of war museums focus on the soldiers and combat but this gave a different perspective.

Personally, loved some wonderful pieces by József Rippl-Rónai, yet this entire museum is a gem (and I've seen some great art museums to compare).
Floor 2 and its pre war Hungarian art was so different from what I am used to seeing in museums, and so beautiful I wondered what happened to all these artists' lives during the war I will even try to go back agai...

If you like history, weapons, or anything military related, this is one of the most encompassing museums I've ever been to and must be seen.
The museum is located in the Castle District on the Buda side of the Danube, along the back of the citadel, a ten minute walk from the central square and church.

A highlight of this museum exhibits the recording gramophone used by Hungarian composers Bela Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly to capture the authentic folk music of the country.
Situated almost next door to a more illustrious tourist attraction St. Matthias's church, this smallish museum is a wonderful exhibition of music influences through the ages in Hungary.

Whilst I love anatomy museums my main reason for coming here was to see the house and resting place of the great man, Ignaz Semmelweis.
One of the gems that has recently been inserted into the wonderfully restored Italianate frontage is the Semmelweis Museum of Medical History..

This was one of the best 'small' museums I've been to.
If you are interested in herbal medicine, alchemy, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, etc--this will be an interesting museum for you to visit!
