Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a unique museum--a hospital frozen in time--built in the rocks/nuclear bunker. GO! Using hundreds of mannequins it shows different periods it was used--during World War II; during resistance; and as a nuclear bunker. Not for kids (not scary, just not for young kids and they have an age minimum). The guide was excellent and takes about an hour overall for the tour. If you are on the Buda side, this is one of the best things to see. You must do this.

Hungary had 133 days of communism after the Russian Revolution, and managed to reject it. After suffering under its own Arrow Cross fascist party (in league with Nazi Germany), the Hungarians were "liberated" by Soviet Russia, suffering more decades under communism from 1945 to 1990. So it is obviously right to remember these disasters and using the headquarters of the anti-human regimes to create a museum to retell that history is a great idea. The building would have to have been demolished otherwise - who would want to use it?
We in the West seem ready to reject fascism, but we don't seem to be so keen to reject communism. The Hungarians are keen to reject both - and this is part of their way of ensuring "never again" - but unfortunately, there are no guarantees. As they are only too well aware, the fascists and the communists were Hungarians too. In the last part of the self-guided tour, there is a room full of photographs of the people who were part of the oppressive regimes who were never brought to justice. Perhaps that is why no photographs are allowed inside the exhibition space.

    What a find this was......!
As an avid pinball player in my youth what a few hours it was that I spent here. An incredible history of the pinball museum with at least 80 to play and it was all free. Not only that but there was a selection of old arcade games from space invader, frogger, shooting games and so much more. It took me back to my youth.
Loved every single minute of it and when I go back to Budapest I will definitely go back.

It was so interesting, thank you specially Rike, the best guide for this visit. Our grandson was so happy and now we have to by a lightsaber.

An important place to visit, with a beautiful synagogue. Everyone was really friendly, and as a student I even got a discount, which I didn't know about but the receptionist offered to me straight away. Each room is filled with information, pictures, videos, and extremely instructive. I went there during the week so I was completely alone, but I think it made the experience even more meaningful to me.

Do be warned, if you for some reason intend to go there with children/young teenagers, that in the last room, there is an uncensored video. I found it important to see, but it could make quite the impression on them, so simply be careful about that.

A very happy interesting place. Covers the past without making them out to be heroes. The secret police part is excellent and well worth viewing. A bit out of the city but easily Accessible with public transport.

This was a bit out of the way but a fun experience. You get to try 2 samples of Unicum. It's not for me but the guide was great and the museum was interesting and I'm happy we went!

The view was amazing, we took a lot of pics. We had a really good time there for bachelorette party.
One thing was weird. The eletricity went down a few times for a few seconds.

Fairly typical of museums of this type, we have visited similar in Edinburgh and Liverpool. There were illusions we had seen before but there were some we hadn't. It was a little smaller than we hoped but kept us out of the rain for an hour or so.

Superb experience to see the previous generation of aviation and soviet aircraft. The guides were retired airmen or mechanics and they were eager to tell us about the aircraft, by heart. Also, the receptionist allowed us to keep our luggage in the lobby and guarded it well. A very enjoyable visit.

Fabulous museum easy to reach with the public transport.

We spent a good three hours and it's definitely worth every penny.

The miniature garden railway train ride is an absolute gem - we as two adults without children had a great time! The lovely driver also refused our attempts to tip him. I just hope he wasn't offended.

Even if it isn't a subject that really interests you the building itself is definitely worth visiting!
The museum is about Hungarian agriculture from the neolithic to the beginning of mechanisation.
There is also an exhibition about Hungarian wine in the basement, about forestry, fishing and hunting.
All in all the exhibition is really well made with a lot of information but a bit old school.

This is a small museum dedicated to Franz Liszt. The museum contains some of his works and his piano and is where he once lived.
If you like classical music it's worth going to, but if you aren't that interested you may find it less so.

This place put a smile on my face during a rainy and dreary day. I took more pictures here than I did during the Parliament building tour!

The entrance is free and the souvenirs you can purchase are all extremely reasonably priced.

It is just around the corner from the Astoria Hotel and the Metro.
