Staromestske namesti or Old Town Square is the heart of Prague. Dating back to the 12th century, located here is the Old Town Hall and its famous Astronomical Clock, the gothic Church of Our Lady before Tyn, the baroque St Nicolas Church and the KInsky Palace which is the home of the National Art Gallery. In the center you will find the Jan Huss Monument. There are also numerous cafes and restaurants surrounding the square most with outdoor patios during the warmer months. Although it is often packed with visitors and the surrounding restaurants are overpriced and serve food of average quality, Old Town Square is a must-see experience when visiting Prague. Besides the great historical significance, it is quite stunning. It takes on a more vibrant atmosphere after dark and the scene is even more beautiful when the surrounding buildings are illuminated. The first "performance" of the Astronomical Clock is at 9am and its best to catch it at that hour as the crowds build larger throughout the day. Also try to purchase a ticket to go up the tower of Old Town Hall for spectacular views. It's best to experience early in the morning before crowds build or after dark for the ambience.

One of the oldest astronomical clocks and its attached to the old town hall building. To view it from inside, its recommended to buy tickets online as the ticket counter was quite crowded. To enter the underground area, opt for guided tours which are in Czech and English languages. Every 1 hour, the apostles move around and can be seen from the windows outside the clock tower starting from 9am.

Wow concert venue with four eateries, an up market restaurant a beer hal downstairs another upstairs and a cafe type bar outside, all in a beautiful art deco building, worth it just to look inside. I had been walking past its beautiful exterior for days before going in, last meal of holiday in beer Keller exceptional and such helpful waitress service, shame to accordion player had so few to entertain.

A unique glimpse into the mysterious world of the medieval alchemists. Helpful, well-informed guide and a pretty shop.

We stopped in to see the giant column of books, which is worth seeing. It’s free to enter. We arrived around 10am on a Wednesday and waited in line about 10 minutes. You can see it and take photos without waiting in line, but if you want to peer inside or get photos with nobody else in them, you’ll have to wait in line.

Located at Old Town Square, the towering Church of Our Lady of Tyn is an impressive sight and is the dominant feature at the Square. It is especially spectacular at night when illuminated. The Gothic church was built in the 14th century. Opening times are 10am-1p and 3-5pm and a 40 CZK donation is requested. It is a bit tricky to find the entrance as you have to go down an alleyway of one of the buildings constructed in front of the church. No photography is allowed inside. However, the interior is not overly impressive, and I enjoyed the exterior view of the church much more.

Went to a ballet here on our last night in Prague (booked months prior online). The interior is so ornate - the place opened in 1888.

One of the most beautiful and historic Gothic gateways in the world. The Old Town Bridge Tower, along with the Charles Bridge, were built in the mid 14th century by Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV who made Prague the capital of the Holy Roman Empire. In addition to serving as a defense, the gate was a symbolic victory arch through which Czech kings passed on their coronation processions. It is most beautiful when the tower and surrounding buildings are illuminated after dark. You can also climb up the tower and this offers wonderful views. The cost is $8 but you can buy a combo ticket for $12 that also allows you to climb the Lesser Town Bridge Tower on the other side of the Charles Bridge. You do not have to use on the same day. Photography on the Old Town Bridge Tower is best in the early morning with the sun at your back. It is also less crowded if arriving soon after it opens.

Everything others said about not being able to go inside the poorly lit library, rushed tour are true. It’s really not worth what you pay for. The tour guide showed us virtual photos of the interior of the library and that’s as close to the inside as you’re gonna get (hence everyone has the same photo of the library). The tiny area where you can see the library from outside is so small that each person has maybe 1 min to see it before they had to move out to make room for others. The view on the top was nice but the stairs were steep, it’s not for everyone. This is one of those things you do because it’s your first time in Prague but you’ll never want to revisit.

A lovely tower, but it is currently being restored and covered by scaffolding and netting, which makes the exterior unviewable.
You can still go up the tower (tickets can be purchased onsite).

Beautiful theatre. Avery strange production ( worst we have ever seen) of the Marriage of Figaro. Lawnmowers and modern music! Take care what you book to see.

City market with an amazing history dating back to medieval times. Now it is an outdoor market with a collection of stalls selling fruits and vegetables, arts and crafts and souvenirs. Interesting enough to pass through if you are nearby but nothing to go out of your way to experience.
