Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The weather was a bit soul destroying, but our guide James kept us in high spirits. I can only imagine how beautiful this place would be in the summer time. At least with the 2 day tour, we had the luxury of waiting for gaps in the weather rather than getting soaked to the bone at each location. It was torrential. Bring a rain coat is my only advice.

We were very happy with the services of great Ocean Road Explorer. I knew they would be good on the great Ocean Road, given that would seem to be their main market, but they still gave us an excellent tour to Phillip island as well.

They were also quite flexible when we contacted them, as we wanted a ‘day off’ to explore Melbourne, so we did the tour to phillip island on the Monday, explored Melbourne by ourselves on Tuesday, and then went on the 2 day portion of the tour to the great Ocean Road on Wednesday and Thursday, which all worked out well.

We also saved quite a bit of money by booking directly (via a combination of phone and email) which is always a nice little bonus.

The Great Ocean Road was one of the best tours we ever did. We saw plenty of Kangaroos and we actually saw a Koala bear walking down the main street in Apollo Bay. Dandy was our driver, he knowledgeable and very entertaining. I highly recommend this tour.

We had a amazing tour going to Great Ocean Road. Small group made it more personal, and our guide Ivan was very nice, helpful and provided a lot of information. Highly recommend this by Nara Day tours.

Kanga Road tours is probably one of the most amazing, well-run companies I have come across in Australia, and I could not be any happier.
Right from the start, I have had an amazing experience with Jolanta, who helped book my mum and myself on to this tour, and sent a reminder email of the meeting time, and place the day before.
Starting early, we met Kris our guide, and set off with our small, intimate group of 4.
As it was a small group, we were able to be flexible with our itinerary, and actually got hit more stops than on the itinerary. The day was well paced, with plenty of time to walk around, take photos, grab a bite to eat, but we packed a lot in.

Kris is a wealth of information on just about anything. We thoroughly enjoyed his ongoing commentary throughout the trip on history, nature, interesting anecdotes, and dad jokes! A passionate guide who clearly knows his stuff, and loves what he does!

I especially loved that we visited places less 'touristy' such as The Narana Aboriginal Centre, Apollo bay, and Port Campbell in addition to the idyllic natural structures promised on the Great Ocean Drive.

Overall, a perfectly wonderful day, with a wonderful group. I highly recommend Kanga Road Tours!

Long day, but a great trip. The pick up was prompt at our hotel. The small group was a plus. Our driver and tour guide was excellent. The stops were timely and well planned. The attractions were fabulous. The next to last stop for ice cream was the best we ever had in our entire life. The final plus was that we saw five koalas in trees.

We recently took this private tour on a blustery winters day. Thankfully we dodged the rain. Partly down to luck and partly down to James (our guide) and his timing as he switched things around and used satellite on his phone to check the incoming weather storm patterns - very smart!

The extra hour was certainly worth it as it is quite a long way down to the start of the road, and an even longer way back to Melbourne.

I would absolutely recommend this company to family and friends. All in all, a great tour. Thanks, Tony & Sue :)

Wow! This is a mammoth tour, be warned, there is a fair bit of driving, especially on day 2 as the Great Ocean Road leg is very long. You can counteract this by doing the same tour over 3 days which might cut your driving down. But this would have pushed up the price so we opted for the shorter 2 day option.

There were so many great parts to this trip I wouldn’t know where to begin. Our guide James was great. He was so well organised wherever we went, as especially on Philip island, we required ticket entry to everywhere, but he had already pre-booked everything so we skipped the queue wherever we went. He advised us a few weeks before booking to upgrade our Penguin parade ticket, which he did for us. Such a good move, as it gained us entry into a limited entry area. Really great!

And the Great Ocean Road is just mind blowing , but perhaps best done by staying overnight along the road. As mentioned, it was an option we did consider but didn’t go for in the end.
