Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Rainy day didn’t discourage a detour to Red Rock.
Got kids mildly excited about the volcano ha. Short drive from Colac.
A short climb up wooden stairway from car park made for great 360 degree views.
Pity the vineyard below not open for wine tasting as
the red rock soil would create an interesting flavour.

Sightseeing around Colac Lake and found entry to Gardens.
Lovely gravel lane allowed a slow circuit drive through the Botanical grounds.
Misty rain discouraged car exit but even kids were wowed
by the pretty changing landscapes. Congratulations to the gardening staff.

Free camping with a view & facilities.

Pull up right in the foreshore.
Plenty of room to set up your camp site.
If you fish, throw in a line or two, people we spoke to had caught carp but weren’t bothered.
There is a toilet block (we didn’t use it) but it looked fine.

With town and most view points from south, Lake Colac reflects light beautifully.
A few car parks, shady spots, little jetty and walking track offers plenty to explore.
Plenty of happy birds about. In distance is Red Rock.

Really friendly staff, great service. Exceptional coffee. Great take-away tea, which is unusual. The ham, cheese and sauerkraut toastie was delicious. Great range of reasonably priced wholefoods too.
