This walk is a 20 minute circuit in rainforest, west of Apollo Bay. There is a boardwalk that you follow. There are huge trees, some of which are more than 200 years old. A wonder short walk.

My wife and I originally planned this trip in 2020, but Covid got in the way. As we live in the UK it took a while before we could rearrange. During this time, Wilson Bath (owner of Hike2Camp) was excellent with his communication. We did the walk in March and this proved to be an excellent month - not too hot, too cold or too wet! The walk started at 7am on Sunday morning when Alan met us in Apollo Bay and handed over a map, poncho, first aid kit, transponder, lunch and a HUGE bag of snacks. After that, we were on our way. You can choose your own pace and whether to walk alone or with others. Navigation is fairly simple.
This walk turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Australia. The organisation of Wilson & Alan was first class. Every dietary wish was catered for and it was impossible to go hungry. The scenery was varied and superb, including most of the wildlife that we had expected. Wilson puts the tents up at the campground, takes them down the next morning and transports luggage from camp to camp. All we needed to carry was a small day pack. There was a briefing every morning, lunch was issued and we were able to top up our snack bag. Then we were on our way. Day 4 of the 6-day itinerary is the hardest day, but if you are reasonable walking fit you will be OK. We still finished by 3pm and Wilson was on hand to transport us to the hostel at Princetown where we stayed for 2 nights.
On reflection, the GOW with Hike2Camp was an excellent choice of activity. We are so glad that we experienced it. Thank you, Wilson and Alan!

Ready to move on, we first drove up to Mariners Lookout for an early morning, birds-eye view of Apollo Bay. (NB: drive up; don’t try to walk).

We stayed with friends in Melbourne who were eager to show us the highlights of the area. It was a full day tour, but so happy we went. Sometimes the road goes inland where you might encounter some animals in the wild. Truly gorgeous coastline!

Lovely waterfall in the distance that you can see from lookout. Probably a bit underwhelming if you’ve already seen a few other ones in area that are much more spectacular and up close
