Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a bucket list experience, just do it! Fabulous explanation, excellent staff and great product. I learnt things about the truffle industry that were amazing.

We stumbled across a sign to this farm whilst driving through Deloraine and decided to go and have a look. Just on 10 minutes later we pulled up in the car park for the farm.

There was a small licensed cafe, Georgie's Cafe, on site that offered a small but interesting range of tasting platters plus some sandwiches and warm food options. Salmon of course was the hero of most of the dishes but there was also a vegan bowl. There was seating both inside and outside. They also had a small tasting plate of the hot smoked salmon and the rillette on crackers for two people for $5-00 which we purchased to sample.

The shop also sold a range of pre-packaged products to take away. We bought a jar of salmon rillette and some hot smoked salmon packs which were very tasty when we consumed them later.

The farm also offered self-guided tours which cost $10-00 per adult ($7-00 for seniors) and included a handout with map and a package of food with which to feed the fish.

The farm grows Atlantic Salmon which are housed in 20 fresh water concrete tanks. The salmon are unique in that they spend their entire lives in fresh water. The farm states that it has also been established to use a natural and man-made wetland that acts as a bio filter to filter all the fish waste. They state that the water that leaves the farm is twice as clean as when it came in from he Western Creek Rivulet and Montana Falls.

Our self-guided tour took us on a track to the base of the Montana Falls then around a path next to the wetlands and around some of the open feeding ponds that contain Atlantic Salmon, Brown and Rainbow Trout.

Unfortunately it had been raining for a few days prior to our visit so the water was quite murky meaning that we did not actually see any of the fish feeding but we certainly heard them and saw lots of movement on the surface of the water.

    Well worth a visit.

Unfortunately we visited during the "closed" season of looking for truffles .and were unable to experience the truffle hunting, we had a wonderful experience with the staff at the truffle farm taste testing the products on offer and her knowledge and experience with regards to the product and what to use in cooking was invaluable. Walked away with a bag full of goodies and can't wait to get home and cook with them.

Had a fantastic relaxed and informative day with Greg from Kooparoona Niara Tours. Greg offers relaxed and friendly door to door service, with a real focus on meeting his customers needs.
We spent time at the Kooparoona Niara Cultural Train in Deloraine, the Marakoopa Caves and had lovely lunch at Earth Water Cafe. All of these places were worth the trip alone.
If you go to the Earth Water Cafe, we recommend sitting on the deck and watching the chickens and animals wander around the fields.
Thanks for the great day Greg!
