Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- TallroundeyesBrisbane, Australia153 contributionsWe hired ebikes from Scoot the Valley (in Clare) and had a fantastic day out cycling. Pick at 0900, time for coffee stop, lunch and we could have easily fitted in a wine tasting on the way back before 1700.
We continued past Auburn and even on a 30 degree day, was very easy riding.
Take some extra water if riding in summer, slap on lots of sunscreen and have a fantastic day out. A fabulous way to see the countryside around the Clare region.Written 21 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A bit steep when other well known wineries don’t have a tasting fee! However our attendant was knowledgeable and efficient. The wines were wonderful as always.Written 7 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Austrav55Sydney, Australia200 contributionsWe loved our stay here as thought it quite unique with the historic buildings and farm feel. It is only about 10 minutes out of Clare which was a well serviced town with restaurants and a Woolworths supermarket where we bought supplies. We stayed in the Council chambers which had 2 bedrooms either end of accommodation with own bathrooms which we found ideal. In between was a lounge area and cosy country kitchen. There was a very deep step into kitchen and to outside which was a bit problematic and had to be careful with. Loved having a fire but there was very adequate air con/ heating as well which we needed as was very cold and windy during our 4 night stay at beginning of September. Appreciated the electric blankets. Kitchen was very adequate to cook our own meals and one night we got a supplied barbecue pack. The meat with that was very tasty, salad was good but the bread which was damper was extremely dense- would have preferred a bread cob. The Breakfast supplies were plentiful for our stay. We loved exploring the farm and feeding the chickens with food scraps. Staff were very friendly and in lead up to stay had great communication and information. We thought it was good value.
The Clare valley was stunning with Canola fields in bloom and there was plenty to do in the area particularly if you like visiting wineries.Written 2 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Busy as he was, he managed to be able to spend time chatting and guiding each group of patrons through quite an extensive tasting list. Not baffling us with wine talk, but getting to know his customers and answering questions while sharing his passion for his wines and the industry he has extensively worked in. Great range of wines to try, lovely old stone building created a great atmosphere full of visitors and locals having a good time.Written 1 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ChelseaAdelaide, Australia60 contributionsAn amazing tasting experience in the Clare valley! Loved hearing about the wines and the area. The cellar door was beautiful and quaint with soooo much selection and an extensive tasting list. Skye who was working the cellar door was a generous host and we loved hearing about the family and history. One of my fave cellar door experiences to date!Written 10 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Nell142Nelson, New Zealand15 contributionsDo not miss this winery!!
We visited several wineries for tastings around Clare Valley and rated this as the best.
So nice to have more unusual wines to taste like their superb Fiano and we loved their Sangiovese and Shiraz rating them as worth well above their cost.
Loretta our tasting host had exceptional experience and knowledge and we had a very enjoyable hour plus there .

At 10am on a Sunday we headed to Jim Barry who recently stopped opening on a Sunday which was disappointing. However good fortune prevailed we stopped for a tasting. Having never sampled these wines we were pleasantly surprised. The wine was excellent quality but it was Anne who looked after us who was excellent. She told us all about the wines, talked with knowledge about the region and was just really lovely. We ended up buying 14 bottles and signed up to their wine club.
