- Katharine M22 contributionsThis is a pleasant mainly flat walk from the town past various marinas. Once you leave the coast you can have a drink or meal at the Whisper's Bar, part of a holiday apartment complex. We were pretty thirsty by the time we got there! There is a partial sea view from the bar area. When you walk back there is an ice cream parlour just before you get to the main street.Written 29 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anita R1 contributionWe were discouraged from doing this walk over 1 day as everyone we talked to and everything we read kept on about it being a 2-3 day walk. It’s totally doable as a 1 day walk if you’re not keen to camp out with feral pigs and cane toads, and you like a challenge :) We got a taxi to the starting point for $50 to commence the walk at 7am and finished at 3:30pm. Took approx 8.5 hours including breaks and the detour to honeyeater lookout and back. A total of 32kms. If you’re tired at the turn off to honeyeater lookout (3.6km return) you could save it for another day if you have time. It’s a lovely walk which might be better enjoyed if you haven’t already walked 24kms. Some would also say Hayward lookout is better! I recommend two approx spritz as a reward at the end.Written 12 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BernicsGold Coast, Australia188 contributionsVery happy with our stay here, although we didn't spend much time in our room as we only had a couple of nights and were in Airlie for a wedding.
I found the room itself to be very spacious and it was clean, nice view and there was a large spa on our balcony. Unfortunately, we didn't get to use the spa due to lack of time but I imagine it would be lovely sitting in there taking in the view.
The lady that welcomed us upon check-in was friendly and helpful and we felt very welcomed.
It's not exactly a modern resort but the pool area looks great. Also, when booking here you can see exactly what you get by the photos and so we arrived to what we had already seen online anyway. Also, due to the reasonable price to stay here, it's what you would expect.
It's a short walk into town, the lagoon and marina.Written 18 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - Mairwen1United Kingdom11,299 contributionsShute Harbour is a gateway to the Whitsunday Islands and is the main port for picking up a chartered boat to start island-hopping.
It was a great starting point for a sailing trip but, apart from this (and perhaps the Coral Beach Walk), I’m not sure that there are many other reasons to go to Shute Harbour.
We picked up our Sunsail catamaran from here but by the time we were cleared to go, there was not a lot of time left in the day. We had the option to stay overnight in the harbour but that wasn’t very appealing to any of us.
We were keen to get underway so instead, we headed to Happy Bay to get an overnight anchorage. From Shute Harbour, it’s the nearest and most convenient place to pull up.Written 2 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews. - FamilyDad6Canberra, Australia23 contributionsLovely short walk starting and ending at a small dirt car park in Shute Harbour. Given there isn't much to do at Shute Harbour, this makes the drive from Airlie Beach worthwhile. The walk to Coral Beach gently undulates and only takes about 20 minutes. The beach and view are very pretty, though no sand just rocks and coral. Despite complaining teenagers, we pressed on to Beak Hill, which adds about another kilometre return. The view from the lookout is amazing, terrific vista of the Whitsunday islands. This part of the walk is slightly steeper, with a few steps, but not particularly challenging. The rainforest is also beautiful to admire.
The whole walk return is about 5kms. Well worth a short activity with the family.Written 14 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Parking is a problem, especially if you have a 7m campervan but we managed a spot after a few passes.
There are lots of stalls with some very clever artisans. Prices are reasonable at most stalls.
Lots of food and drinks on offer too.
So much choice.Written 13 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The print and colours are what caught my eye at first, then Jen gave me a styling session on different ways to wear it. Such a great experience, I can’t wait to wear my new piece!Written 12 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
