What travellers are saying
- hannahChristchurch, New Zealand207 contributionsIn my opinion, it offers the best and the easiest reach urban hilltop view in New Zealand. It is so great to be able to drive up to the top, and you can choose to bike and walk up. Even though you don’t want to go up, you can still enjoy the view from the bottom of the hill (specifically from Craggy Range)
It has amazing view and great spot for sunrise and sunset.
If you would like to have light on the peak and ridge, you’d better go there in the morning or at latest early afternoon.Written 14 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - DGM788Hastings, New Zealand11 contributionsAwesome place for families. Plenty of room to spread out. Clean place and really helpful staff. Kids loved the lazy river and slides.Written 18 February 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- wendy lyons-beckTauranga, New Zealand189 contributionsWe had a stunning afternoon at this sandy beach with the locals. The water was clear and warm. Parking is a challenge. No food or drink options here.No rubbish collection so be a tidy Kiwi.Written 9 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Irish_Kiwi77Wellington, New Zealand1,220 contributionsIf you are in the area and like locally produced products, this is well worth visiting. I was very impressed with the amount of stalls there and the selection of products available. If you do like coffee there are three options available but be prepared to queue. A number of stalls had ephos machines, which was great as I don’t carry cash. There is a lot of parking available and it didn’t take me long to find a space. Will definitely be back when in the area againWritten 28 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- KielySmileyAuckland, New Zealand59 contributionsA lovely short walk, worth the drive. Some great spots to watch the birds and enjoy the scenery. Not much in the way of facilities or shade.Written 3 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.

- Melanieh910Auckland, New Zealand60 contributionsNice Sunday listening to music and drinking sangria at Abbe Winery. Good pizza. We went on a busy day so a bit of a wait. Bean bags and tables to sit at in the shade so was good. Things for children to do.Written 15 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- David PAuckland, New Zealand40 contributionsHidden away in an industrial area of Hastings, Roosters is rustic, welcoming and friendly. Start with the 5 glass tasting tray to determine what you are drinking and then order from a wonderful American/Asian menu. Our favorites were the loaded fries with Pulled Pork, jalapenos and delicious cheese sauce, Bao buns and pork filled dumplings.
The beer was excellent especially the draught and dark ale. A great way to spend an afternoon, but decide who is driving home before you get there. Enjoy, we did!Written 5 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Graham109 contributionsWe called in for advice on exploring the Art Deco architecture Hastings has to offer. We picked up an informative guide for NZ$ 1.
The team proactively offered additional advice. - JohnDeereQueenBay of Plenty Region, New Zealand67 contributionsEssential Sunday morning visiting! We bought greek basil and japanese parsley plants, GF pancake mix, macaroons, courgettes, smoothies and vegan coconut yoghurt starter amongst other items. A man with a wonderful voice serenaded everyone. All the stallholders we visited were cheerful and friendly as well as very knowledgeable about their products. If I lived in the Hawkes Bay I would go to this market every Sunday! I very much look forward to returning.Written 28 March 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
