So much to see and to read - hard to do it justice in one visit. Run by impressive volunteers and the $10 entry fee is very reasonable given the wealth of information on offer. Recommended!

Our 1st trip to the Island with 2x 15ft hybrids. Stayed 3 nights in Zone 2, found a great camping area, day tripped to Lake Mackenzie, checked out Eurong, pies from the bakery were yummo. Heaps of pippies along the beach, however they were few and far between further up the beach in zones 5 and up. We attempted to catch beachworms, hubby got one!! Our next stop was in Zone 5 for 9 nights once again found the perfect spot for the 2 vans. We were between the Maheno wreck and the Pinnacles. Day trip over to the western side, 21kms took just over an hour, this was midweek so very little traffic. Checked out Central Station and Lake Allman. Wasn't fussed on Orchid beach at all, the drive up there was scenic. Champagne rock pools were impressive. Cathedral beach shop/fuel was our go to for a coffee, had lunch there twice, burgers were $17 to $20 and well worth it. Thier prices for groceries were reasonable and had a wide selection. Eli Creek was just what everyone says it is, just beautiful clear fresh cold running water. The closest dump point for us a Dundubara, and there was mobile phone service there and fresh water. Had a few close encounters with the dingoes during our stay, you need to be vigilant at all times. All 4 of us carried a "stick" when out on the beach are moving around our camp site. We had timed all our travel onto and off island around the tide times, need a low tide to get around the Poyungan and Yidney rocks with the vans, there are tracks up and over both rocks, however we decided to go around the rocks. Same with getting back to the barge the last 1 1km of beach down to Hook point is only passable at low tide. Will we go back again, yes. Lastly we didn't get bogged at Inskip Point!!

Incredible beach pathway to enjoy the stunning bay. 14km of path and manicured gardens. Can't get much better than this.

    We were pleasantly surprised
It is only a tiny aquarium but the entry fee is very reasonable
The staff were very welcoming & gave us lots of information
Oh yes make sure you book a swim with the turtles 30minutes only $50
Not swimming with the turtles was our only disappointment
The restaurant exceeded our expectations with a great menu & a glass of wine served on the verandah by friendly staff
Remember ti book there as well as it is very popular

At 898 meters long, and having bad knees, I didn't think I'd be able to walk there and back but it was amazing. Looking at all the other people walking there and back, and watching people fishing off the pierce, the time went very fast. It only took us 15 mins to walk to the end and 15 mins back. We did it late in the afternoon when dusk was approaching, so it was lovely walking back in semi dark. If you plan to walk at dusk or in the dark make sure you take a torch as there are many trip hazards.

Awesome place to take the kids and in a beautiful spot.majority Probably more aimed at younger kids but the water slides are great for older ones too.

It's a long sandy beach. It was very quiet on early Sunday afternoon. On our way to the airport we sat and enjoyed the peaceful moment.

Went for an early morning stroll around the gardens. Nice pathways and an interesting idea too of a boulevard of birthday trees for those who have reached 100!

A small but beautifully curated and serene gallery space. Loved the current exhibition celebrating old Queenslander architecture in such an interesting way. Perfect exhibition for regional Queensland! Also loved the ‘timber’ exhibit.

Just a wonderful place to sit and watch and relax. The marina is not large but the shops are good, the staff helpful and a convenient pick up spot for tours.

Lovely park overlooking the water. Some features along the path from a big ship to memorials to a pretty tiled path. Some historical points by the steps down to the beach.
