Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- AndynjacMelbourne, Australia21 contributionsAwesome family activity that our teenagers really enjoyed. Our instructor Annabelle was knowledgeable and super helpful. The whole group was up on our boards surfing within the first 15 minutes. Loved every minute of it.Written 29 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- tan19191Redruth, UK4 contributionsWe contacted Simon to enquire about hiring a couple of SUP boards and he was so helpful. He arranged to drop them off for us and pick them up a couple of hours later and recommended a lovely spot to use them. Excellent communication and service, would deffo use again when in Margaret River.Written 8 December 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EggsPerth, Australia25 contributionsI have been visiting Margaret River two or three times a year since moving to Perth in 2007 and my recent visit was my favourite because of Josh's surf school.
I have a twelve year old son who is getting a bit too old to want to hang out with his parents, so we booked a couple of lessons hoping it would give him some independent fun. We booked two sessions initially, using a Wander Out Yonder voucher and we were so impressed we booked extra sessions for every day we could.
You'll be blown away and reassured by Josh's knowledge of the local area and conditions. He is up at the break of dawn every morning checking on the surf to ensure the break you visit is suitable for your skill level and you experience as much if the area as possible. He is one of those rare teachers who clearly has a passion for his subject and wants to share it by lighting a fire in his young students. He is enthusiastic, positive and knowledgeable. He is also a really great guy.
Our instructor was Lee Olsen, a young local who described Josh as, "Just the best guy. He's more like a mate than my boss." Lee was awesome and also had that endless energy and positivity of surfers. He was attentive to my son's safety, engaging and skilful. We couldn't have been happier leaving our son in his care.
If you have a youngster getting into surfing, or wanting to give it a try, I couldn't recommend the school highly enough. I imagine they would be just as good with a competent surfer looking to upskill.
Worth every cent. Highly recommended. This school has made my son super eager to come back with us to Margs on our next visit. Great teachers and great guys. Loved it.Written 18 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. To be able to spend 2 solid days surfing, then reviewing videos and then surfing again, was so beneficial. Video analysis is definitely the best to help progress. The coaches review and suggestions were brilliant and we also found the surf skating super helpful! Will definitely be doing more of these camps.Written 13 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
