Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- OldjackGreater Melbourne, Australia29,752 contributionsIt was a pleasant sunny day and hence looking its best but fair to say that this inner city beach looked very good and was well patronised . The board walks and new pier added to the appearance and usability and the sunny day helped.Written 3 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OldjackGreater Melbourne, Australia29,752 contributionsThey did an excellent job with the new St Kilda Pier with a new penguin viewing platform, a brand new pier and retaining the old kiosk. There is now a multi-level sunbathing section above a swimming area that was well used. Great views of the city and an asset restored and improved.Written 3 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - OldjackGreater Melbourne, Australia29,752 contributionsThis iconic pier and breakwater was built in 1853 and recently underwent major renovation and they have improved the experience signiciantly. A new sunbathing and swimming area added at the sea end and the penguin viewing area has been upgraded. The pier provides great views of the Melbourne skyline. Overall a recommended place to visit.Written 31 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Mlr240Melbourne, Australia20 contributionsThe space in this small museum was well utilised and highlighted the rich Jewish-Australian story.
I liked how the floors and vertical spaces were used. The mixture of stories and artefacts kept my interest in the exhibits high.
The staff are knowledgeable and incredibly kind. We were encouraged to take our time even though it was close to closing time.Written 22 November 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Flowering was not quite there, being at the end of Spring. The rose garden was doing well. We went into the Conservatory and considered that this would be good if it rained, but the weather held off.Written 11 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - wombatdavidHobart, Australia2,839 contributionsThis area is a bit nicer than when we came in January of this year. Some new shops here. The cakes are overpriced and don’t look the freshest. But a pleasant place to walk. We got some Israeli items from Coles but Woolworths seem to have dropped their kosher section. You can take tram 96 back into town for a fun ride along the faster tracks.Written 2 December 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tracey MPreston, UK92 contributionsWe stumbled across these gardens whilst out for a wander. Just as we arrived the heavens opened and thankfully we found shelter in the gardens. As the rain cleared we had a walk round, so peaceful and a lot to see. Would love to have visited when everything was in full bloom but even so plenty to look at, just a great place to escape the St Kilda hustle and bustle.Written 23 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sue TMelbourne, Australia3,626 contributionsWe attended The Palais Theatre for The Carl Baron Show. It really is an amazing theatre and a good size to enjoy a show. Although there were long queues when we arrived the efficient staff ushered everyone in very quickly. I have been to The Palais Theatre a number of times and glad they have now updated the bathrooms. Check out the upcoming shows, go along and enjoy.Written 10 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Paul LHallam, Australia996 contributionsNothing massively extensive here. Just a garden area often utilised by picnickers, fitness junkies and the like and the gardens do create a nice aspect by the sea. Most people won't visit the area for these gardens but rather just enjoy the gardens as part of the St Kilda beachfront area.
There are facilities a little farther along and nearby are plenty of eateries of varying types and budgets.Written 6 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Strangely calming. Also sounds fabulous.
Actually, did get wet due to the kindness (see carelessness) of others - Ah, so it goes.Written 1 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
