Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the third largest Cathedral in Australia and reflects the wealth that Bendigo had accumulated during the Gold Rush era.

He is very passionate about his heritage and was able to share great detail on the artefacts in the display, some of which are the only of their kind. His enthusiasm and knowledge made this a highlight of my trip through the Victorian GoldfieldsWritten 7 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Megsy13Melbourne, Australia289 contributionsThis is the second tour we have done of Fortuna, and it was fabulous to get a different perspective. The previous tour was in 2016 and not all of the areas were open at that time.
The place itself and the history of the Lansells is absolutely fascinating. You cannot imagine the wealth without doing the tour. It’s utterly mind-blowing.
The high tea was very nice, but the group was too large to comfortably support the tour. The high tea is now set across 2 rooms, and when the owner starts talking to the whole group from the other room, half the group cannot hear. Likewise, when the (excellent) tour guide is talking, many of the group can’t fit into the room or hear what is being talked about. We missed many pieces of information because of this, and numerous other guests were talking about this also. The previous tour we did was half the size, and much more manageable.
The other part that was quite crass was the advertising all over the place for the subdivision of the property the owner is doing - not at all in keeping with the property. I hope the development isn’t similarly obtrusive.
Despite this, it’s definitely worthwhile doing the tour, if only for the insight into the sort of money that most of us can’t even dream about!Written 28 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Shares a site with a glass-worker, a wine merchant, a sculptor and other artistic enterprises. A nice way to spend a sunny June afternoon.Written 19 June 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Lena M1 contributionThe heritage building and Honour Rolls are stunning but the true gems are hidden inside - the permanent exhibits are well presented and there was an incredible temporary exhibition called ‘Ink in the Lines’ on that explores the stories of service members tattoos and the meanings behind them. Highly recommend this Museum to locals and visitors alike!Written 18 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
