Like that it didn't go too fast & chairs were well spaced out. We sat outdoors in the lovely garden settings and enjoyed a couple of glasses of their fine wine and a tasty platter of local produce. We were lucky to arrive a day after the Trevallyan Walk reopened after an extended hiatus and were able to experience the full beauty of the gorge. We enjoyed a Lamb Burger (not the menu one, it was a special) and it was delicious, the hazelnuts were a great addition. - westy54Sydney, Australia12,674 contributionsWe walked through this lovely park on a number of occasions travelling from our accommodation to various cafes and restaurants.
The park area was originally a claypit used to make bricks then a military drill ground before being established as a park in 1858. It was officially opened a year later in 1859 when the historic Val d'Osne Fountain was turned on.
The beautiful fountain, which appears to be located in the centre of the park, is the central point for the meeting of the main paths that run diagonally from each corner. There is also a main pathway that runs around the perimeter.
The trees, many of them elms with some oaks, and plants are very lush and there is also a vast expanse of grass and a good number of seats.
