Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- DrueMelbourne, Australia99 contributionsAmazing to step back in time and see this wonderful historic home that was saved by the National Trust in Tasmania. Really beautifully maintained with a passionate group of dedicated volunteers who can assist with any questions you might have. The gardens are so lovely to walk around and the amount of fruit trees shows us all that back in the day you didn’t need a Coles or Wollies, you grew your own. My only downside was unlike in Victoria with historical homes none of the furniture is original to the house but that’s just a personal feeling. The house is still alive today.Written 17 April 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- wtandyLaunceston, Australia1,218 contributionsPleasant 70-80 minute return walk from Alexandra Suspension bridge over the first basin. Well formed track which remains firm even after recent rains. No chance of getting lost. Undulating, and steep in parts, but okay if in reasonable health. Several young children walking it this morning, and an octogenarian jogging it from the other direction. Lovely, smaller suspension bridge to the power station is the treat at the end. The white water is running well at present. As the main King's Bridge entry to the Gorge is currently closed (for repair of rock walls), I parked at the cliff grounds car park and entered via the marple steps.Written 9 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia8,537 contributionsThis architectural beauty is a short walk from the PO Clocktower. It dates to 1864 and was constructed in both the Italianate and the classical revival styles with the façade dominated by Corinthian columns and pediment above with urns in line with the columns. Certainly impressive. I liked the Coat of Arms motto, "Progress with Prudence".Written 11 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Dan LBunbury, Australia8,537 contributionsI can only give a review based on the external feature as the building is temporarily closed for extensive renovations and, according to the Council, "an eye-catching extension to the hall fronting the City Park." The building dates to 1891 and showcases classical Victorian architecture and is considered one of Launceston's most significant heritage buildings listed on the Register of the National Estate in 1978. The Hall was mentioned in a news item when we were staying in Launceston and from it I understand the the East Wing installed in 1980 will be redeveloped so that it is more in harmony with the original building.
Not happy that it was closed.Written 11 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
