Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

- Grant NHastings, New Zealand1,517 contributionsWandered around the area checking out the sights and the info plaques scattered around on both sides of the suspension bridge. Worth a wander at a relaxed paceWritten 13 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- susantY2252BCAustralia128 contributionsFinding the Town Hall Clock was a nice surprise, (but not so good when it chimed four and the Information Centre just shut for the day). The clock is not actually on the Town Hall but opposite it. I'm easily fooled and it worked on me.Written 23 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Dan LBunbury, Australia8,538 contributionsI can only give a review based on the external feature as the building is temporarily closed for extensive renovations and, according to the Council, "an eye-catching extension to the hall fronting the City Park." The building dates to 1891 and showcases classical Victorian architecture and is considered one of Launceston's most significant heritage buildings listed on the Register of the National Estate in 1978. The Hall was mentioned in a news item when we were staying in Launceston and from it I understand the the East Wing installed in 1980 will be redeveloped so that it is more in harmony with the original building.
Not happy that it was closed.Written 11 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was designed by Alexander North- the leading church architect in Launceston at that time. It was built for the preparation of the Victorian Cliff Grounds...which was later to become Cataract Gorge.
The cottage was originally constructed in 1890. The caretaker who lived here often had to work from 6am to 9pm for a modest wage and 7 days annual leave. It was rebuilt in 1981 after falling into disrepair.Written 3 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Not sure how you rate such memorials which are such sad reminders of the horrors of war.Written 24 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
