What travellers are saying
- Liisa and Dave BAdelaide, Australia2,504 contributionsWOW! We came here not expecting such an amazing reserve. We hiked seven kilometres along the track which varied in
Scenic views and gradience. Hard to believe that this massive reserve is around 10 minutes out of Launceston city. The chairlift was a must! Toilets are located in two different spots. There is a cafe though we didn’t go there as we were so captivated by all that the reserve has to offer in views. We saw wallabies and peacocks. 🦚 There are many varieties of trees. Extremely well kept premises. Highly recommend this place if in Launceston.
Update: Returned two years later and hiked the Gorge in reverse this time. Afterwards we stopped at the cafe for coffee. Loved spending a good part of the day here- Great hike with beautiful views!Written 25 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just missed the 11am tour but was able to book on the 1pm. On this visit, it was fairly quiet and parking was available. You can sign on on the pub/visitor center across the road. There is a gift shop, small museum across a couple of floors showing some of the brewing history. Of course it is also a pub with food.
The tour was very interesting, helped by the knowledge and energy of the tour guide, Alyssa. The brewing takes place three days a week so no activity on the weekend but you get to see the process steps. There are a few stairs to climb. It is a relatively compact in that you are not walking any great distance.
There is time at the end for tasting some of the different brews.
I would recommend a visit.Written 25 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It was amazing to stand and watch them playing together. Lovely to see a children’s playground and a life size chess game. Toilets available in the park. Ample parking on the surrounding streets. Very well maintained gardens. A peaceful spot to walk, sit, relax, read or even picnic.Written 26 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - CallanAuckland, New Zealand25 contributionsI visited the QVMAG Museum on holiday as an international visitor. I also work in the museum sector in my home country.
The museum has a significant number of collections on display in both permanent and temporary exhibitions. The museum is well laid out and is very professionally presented. The front counter staff were very helpful and friendly on my arrival.
As a foreigner I found it very insightful to learn about the local history and prehistory of Launceston and Tasmania. The highlights for me were the Thylacine exhibit 'Precious Little Remains' and two temporary exhibitions highlighting local wetland ecosystems and the HJ King photographic collections. I spent several hours perusing the galleries and could've stayed longer. I found this museum much more engaging and than the state museum in Hobart (TMAG).
One thing I did feel was lacking was a dedicated representation of the local aboriginal history. I understand this a complex and fraught topic within collecting institutions and as a foreigner I'm not fully aware of the challenges and processes here in Australia. The recent temporary Wetlands exhibition does have a section acknowledging the local aboriginal people abd their relationship to the area.
The museum also has an excellent gift shop (better than most) featuring many Tasmanian and Australian made products.Written 7 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A few good wineries, and Gin Distilleries on the way too.

Such a surprising little place to visit with family or by yourself. Easy walk from Cbd. Restaurant available if you have time to stop. - HahnTravelsLiverpool, Australia1,213 contributionsLoved it here. Great collection of cars of my youth I wish I still owned! $18 entry fee. Muscle cars and porsches of particular interest bit some great little Fiats, Austins and even a Messerschmidt 3 wheeler. Plenty of motorcycles as well. Friendly staff running it love a chat. - javery67Hunter Valley, Australia204 contributionsLeft Launceston for our next destination and stopped here on the way through. One of the more beautifully presented wineries I've visited in Australia. Didn't have a booking but as we were first there the friendly and helpful staff gladly fitted us in. The tasting experience was quite good with some different and lovely wines. We bought several bottles here but they don't discount or waive the tasting fee 🤔. Didn't have time for lunch but the restaurant looked nice. Wasn't overly interested with their menu thought. However if you like your wine and food then definitely check it out.Written 11 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SouthborolassSydney, Australia358 contributionsWith a few hours to spare before going to the airport this was just perfect. Wonderful volunteers happy to tell you the story of the house. Beautiful gardens and the tea room served delicious homemade soup and damper which was very welcome on a cool and windy spring day. Much nicer and cheaper than airport food. Tea served in a teapot with beautiful china. 10 mins from Launceston airport approx,Written 19 September 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - westy54Sydney, Australia9,046 contributionsThis market, which is held weekly on Saturday mornings, has its own dedicated paved area on Cimitiere Street.
Lots of stalls, well spaced, with seating areas.
Stalls sold mostly fresh produce (fruit and vegetables, meats, seafood, artisan bread, pastries and dairy). There were though some spirit providers as well as artisan preserves, pickles, cured meats and salami, honey etc plus some ready to eat take away offerings.
Would visit every week to stock up the fridge and the pantry if we lived in Launceston.Written 20 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Easy parking. The walk was much longer than we expected which we were happy with. Very peaceful. A good variety of birds to be seen. Beautiful views of the surrounding hills. Toilets were located at the far end of the walk and I was pleasantly surprised to see a picnic and BBQ area there also. Well worth stopping for 💕Written 25 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Grant NHastings, New Zealand1,418 contributionsPretty falls that are fairly easy to get to - steps to climb and descend (it was a damp day and there was a fair bit of mud so could be slippery). Worth a trip to see - take a picnic if it's a good day - plenty of area for a picnic and there's a pretty clean toilet block as well. Lots of parking as wellWritten 16 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Karyn M10 contributionsIt's pretty cool to walk over the suspension bridge. Halfway becomes a little bouncy and the history is interesting.
