Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We enjoyed visiting Umpherston Sinkhole which as been developed into a very unusual garden feature. There are significant falls of ivy on the walls, two huge palm trees in the middle. A fascinating visit and worth making time to see.

The Blue Lake is very accessible and is worth spending time having a look. While it is not very blue at this time of the year, there are good walking tracks around the rim. It’s very close to the main CBD too.

A must do in Mount Gambier.

Mount Schank is an extinct volcano, pretty much the same in size as an active one I visited years ago in Tanna, Vanuatu.

The track to the top is very well constructed with concrete “logs” acting as steps. It works very well.

The view at the top was magnificent, out to sea as well as over farmland.

We walked the rim which took only half an hour. A great experience and well worth the climb.

We did not have a lot of time to venture into the Valley Lake parkland but enjoyed the view from the top. There is good access to the bottom for families to enjoy.

The area is renowned for sunken gardens created by volcanic activity. This garden is in the town centre adjacent to the library and the Riddoch Art Gallery. The garden is well tended and the steps down from the street are easy to negotiate for walkers but unfortunately are a problem for the physically disabled.
This is certainly an unusual town centre attraction.

I am somewhat claustrophobic but I decided to take this tour and it was worth the $15 and the 45 minutes the tour took. The guide was very knowledgeable and informative.

Entry to the Conservation Park was free. It's a great area for a stroll and, if time allows, for some birdspotting from the bird hide. Our first wildlife sighting was a snake basking in the sun on the grass! It did not move as we stopped for a photo and then strolled past. We saw about 5 kangaroos (being chased by some youngsters) and a small group of birds. The paths and board walks are clear and loop through the park. Worth a visit.

This is a very modern facility that caters to the arts in Mt.G. Has rotating exhibitions and a great gift shop of local, unique arts and crafts.

We discovered this amazing playspace by accident and we ended up
Visiting multiple times due to my kids loving it so much. Any playground that is fully fenced and has plenty of shade is a must see for us

I wasn’t expecting much but I was proved wrong – the water is so so clear and with the number of different water fowl species it was a real delight. Don’t drive by – take the short detour off the main road and see for yourself.

One of our my kids favourite spots in mount gambier due to the playground and the birdlife. Good public toilets and lots of shade. Great spot to spend time while in town

This park is well cared for and contains a number of war memorials, including the entry gates. The pavilion contains a restored German artillery gun, and it was interesting to see some of the mechanisms of the weapon still intact.
