What travellers are saying
- hmb2302Brisbane Region, Australia73 contributionsDecided to visit Mt Gambier during a road trip through SA, specifically to see this phenomenal garden in a massive sinkhole. Although it wasn’t in full bloom, being August, it really is spectacular and well worth a visit.
There are quite a few steps to climb so sadly not accessible for everyone to experience at ground level but the view from the top is pretty good.Written 14 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It does have some nice views and yes the lake is really blue. Later that night we walked along the lake again after having something to eat in the village. It was a clear sky and the nice thing is that you you could see the lake and the milky way at the same time. I know you have to be lucky, but this was very nice to seeWritten 23 August 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The track to the top is very well constructed with concrete “logs” acting as steps. It works very well.
The view at the top was magnificent, out to sea as well as over farmland.
We walked the rim which took only half an hour. A great experience and well worth the climb.

- Andrew P72 contributionsA fantastic place to view Valley and Blue Lake as well as Mount Gambier. The walk is quite steep, but all on a tar footpath. Unfortunately when we did it the tower was closed but still well worth the effort.Written 15 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EndlessTravelsGreater Melbourne, Australia38,664 contributionsSo much more than a visitor centre. The free museum inside is fascinating with a map of local exploration, a video of a cave dive, exhibits about local geology and so much more. Definitely visit. The bonus is the ship outsideWritten 20 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Andrew P72 contributionsThis is a very beautiful place to stop, in the middle of town. A short walk with a couple of lookout points. A few stairs but not to strenuous but not pram or wheelchair friendly. It also looks like a place that the locals like to throw excess rubbish and shopping trolleys in, which is a shame.Written 15 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - EndlessTravelsGreater Melbourne, Australia38,664 contributionsWe went as a couple due to hearing that it’s not really suited to kids who are a bit unruly like ours. My wife and I had a great time walking around cave on tour that is very manageable for most fitness levels.

The information is reflective of the times, and it is respectfully done. If it is locked, staff are happy to open it up for you. Well worth looking at. - Stewarts Vacation1,543 contributionsEntry to the Conservation Park was free. It's a great area for a stroll and, if time allows, for some birdspotting from the bird hide. Our first wildlife sighting was a snake basking in the sun on the grass! It did not move as we stopped for a photo and then strolled past. We saw about 5 kangaroos (being chased by some youngsters) and a small group of birds. The paths and board walks are clear and loop through the park. Worth a visit.Written 24 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
