Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Us-Two-AussiesAirlie Beach, Australia815 contributionsThe East Shores waterfront precinct is set right on the waters edge, at the base of Auckland Hill. There are two good lookouts at the top of the hill, these are accessed by road, or by steps from East Shores. Our favourite eating places in this precinct are Familia, Auckland House and the Gladstone Yacht Club. Plentiful playgrounds, walking paths, seating, picnic tables, BBQs and toilets throughout the precinct. There is also an outdoor movie theatre which runs day and night. The free water-park is great for kids and is beautifully lit at night. The Gladstone Maritime Museum is also in the precinct along with the Patrol Boat HMAS Gladstone. These are both open for tours on Friday, Saturday & Sunday only. A beautifully maintained waterfront precinct, worth a look, and finish your visit with a gelato on the deck of Familia.Written 17 May 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - aussietraveller027brisbane47 contributionsThe Tondoon Botanic Gardens of Gladstone are a lovely example of bush gardens with lovely gum trees and real feature. Loved the 'honour totem poles' for those people who had reached 100yrs old. A really nice touch. The Japanese Tea Garden was lovely as well.Written 28 July 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

The fellow behind the counter was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and handed us some maps and other information to help us decide what we wanted to do. The centre has a large assortment of souvenirs and gifts. I bought a beautiful turtle cushion for my 'turtle guest room' and my husband picked up some fridge magnets and stubby holders.Written 24 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RalphBNEBrisbane, Australia28 contributionsWhile vehicle access to the lookout is closed during upgrading, it is possible to park on the street nearby and walk to the lookout. The view of the harbour from north to south is a great introduction to the activity there. It is complemented by the view from the Round Hill Lookout - further inland but more extensive.Written 14 September 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amerson1Brisbane, Australia131 contributionsWhen we visited they had a National Geographic exhibition of women photographers - very good. Also some interesting local exhibits & a film on fracking. So a great spot if you have some spare time in Gladstone!Written 1 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Niccers16Bundaberg, Australia942 contributionsGreat way to see Gladstone and beyond. Maps are dotted around the top to show exactly what you are looking at eg Smelter, Mt Larcom etc. Probably allow 15-20 mins to walk around the lookout and take some great photos.Written 3 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Amerson1Brisbane, Australia131 contributionsBoth Heron Island (hotel accommodation) & Lady Musgrave Island (national parks camping) are great places to see the outer reef 70km off the coast. Both easy places to snorkel and see the coral and amazing fish life.Written 1 April 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Lynette ASunshine Coast, Australia7 contributionsThree of us enjoyed a Morning Melodies show on Tuesday 20 April. The show was very enjoyable and the seating setup for morning tea beforehand was a pleasant way to watch the show. - Lynette Clara BNorth Queensland, Australia324 contributionsNice park dog friendly on leash, the walking path going right around the pond is lovely and suitable for everybody.
Great place to walk our dog, lots of ducks 🦆 and geese . Love watching all the turtles 🐢
Has free bbqs and a play park.
We have noticed that the water is getting very green but still a place we enjoy a walk around.Written 29 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Parking, as in all Australian carparks, is designed for a Mini, not big wagons and 8-foot wide landcruisers.
It does however have a decent sized supermarket, department store, and attendant shoe-shops with neighbouring nail saloons and liquor store.
How quaint!
There are banks, a service station and numerous food outlets.
The westpac bank ATM and burgerurge are highlights of this edifice to modern plastic consumerism.Written 30 March 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
