Great venue, and very friendly team. James took us through a range of wines catered to our preferences. Options to join wine club, but no pushy sales push.
Overall great visit and will be back.

Went in weekday at 11am so we got the best seat and it felt like a private experience 😍 the place is beautiful and surrounded by vineyard and hills. We saw a lot of kangaroos roaming around the vineyard.
The wines didn’t disappoint at all, loving the Chardonnay, and each wine was perfectly paired with great cheese, we ended up going to one of the cheese factory.
Had the one hour experience but we didn’t feel rushed at all.
We were served by Jamie who is an absolute sweetheart! Very friendly and clear in explaining. Definitely worth the price 😍

We were recommended by many friends that Hunter Valley Gardens is a MUST DO (especially during the Christmas Lights time), it’s spectacular, pretty and there’s lots of photo opportunities and it’s THE BEST BY FAR… that they have seen and would do it again! I did a little research and headed straight to their website and yes, there’s lots to see, they have ten themed gardens built by Bill and Imelda Roche over four years and there are bronze statues honouring the two. I did further research of the ten themed gardens and I had three themed gardens that I definitely wanted to see: [1] ‘Rose Garden’ featuring 13 bronze statues of Imelda Roche and her 12 grandchildren (you will see a bronze statue of Bill Roche before entering the gardens), situated in the middle of Rose Garden; [2] ‘Storybook Garden’ looked impressive and a definitely magical moment for children with popular nursery rhyme characters scattered around the garden; and [3] ‘Italian Grotto’ there’s a statue of Saint Francis of Assisi with edible plants “the fragrance of Italy”… and the rest are just a bonus. I was pleasantly surprised, when I went online to book tickets, the Christmas Lights attraction was still on during January, so I booked tickets for day and night… doing two different activities within the same day. When we arrived, we simply scanned our QR code, when entering the building, the lovely lady there noticed that we had tickets for both day and night and told us to be sure to see all themed gardens because they close off four gardens during the Christmas Lights at night and handed us a map to navigate around the gardens easily. We did manage to see all ten themed gardens, easily done within two hours at an easy pace. Yes, the gardens looked impressive and one of a kind by having ten individual gardens in the one big garden (kudos to Bill and Imelda Roche for their clever idea and brought it to life) but definitely not “the best by far”. I have seen far prettier gardens in Australia. We were fortunate enough that we had light rain falling during our visit day and night – not overcrowded, we almost had the garden to ourselves, perfect environment to take great photos as we wouldn’t have other visitors in the background our photos. We weren’t there for rides or food but I can assure you, you wouldn’t have to wait long to be served at the food trucks or go on rides – due to a little bit of wet weather. The Christmas Lights were indeed beautiful to see, lots of effort has been put into the light show and their displays were HUGE… definitely captured our attention – you can’t go wrong with colourful lights and I can see younger children being transfixed with amazement and admiration. I highly recommend to see the gardens day and night – totally different. You get to see the garden in its natural beauty during the day. During the night, it’s overtaken by lights – which is a good thing, if you’re there intentionally for the light show but unfortunately, you can’t see the garden much. If you want to see pretty flowers blooming at their best, then may I suggest to research which months the flowers are at their best – for example, Roses are at their best during September / October months if you want to see the magic the ‘Rose Garden’ has to offer. However, there’s room for improvements. The Hunter Valley Gardens opened in 2003 and you must pay to visit the garden, after 22 years of entry fees, I’m sure whoever is in charge of HVG, is capable to budget and set aside some funds for further improvements. My suggestion for improvements to begin with is to clearly label each garden… similar to ‘Storybook Garden’ upon entering AND have individual plaque labelling trees, shrubs, florals and herbs – that would make the garden complete; undercover walkways that allows visitors to go from one garden to another comfortably – which would be an asset for both hot and wet days and of course the continuous housekeeping of the gardens.

Our wine-tasting experience was absolutely exceptional. The ambiance was inviting, and the selection of wines was carefully curated, showcasing unique flavors and excellent craftsmanship. Bobby, who served us, truly made the experience unforgettable. He was professional, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable, going above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and cared for. His thoughtful recommendations and passion for wine added a personal touch that made the visit even more enjoyable. We left with not only some amazing bottles of wine but also wonderful memories. This experience comes highly recommended, and Bobby’s outstanding service is the cherry on top!

Visited as stop 2 of a 4 stop trip to the Hunter and didn’t even bother with the last 2 because they were so good. Staff were knowledgeable and funny and made you feel like part of the family. I would rate this place 10 stars if I could. It’s my second visit and they just keep getting better. Bought a few case including the Flat bottles which are 10c recyclable (genius)!!!!!

Tambourlaine is organic wine at its best and the wine is incredible and yet the price remains reasonable. Thanks Marcus for making it a great experience. Will be coming back with friends and family for sure.

Can’t speak highly enough of this winery.

This was our first visit to Hunter Valley having visited and experienced other wine regions.
We enjoyed our drive into Hunter Valley and after settling in decided to visit Tempus Two and then McGuigan Wines Cellar Door. They are located next to each other. We were informed that these are owned by the same company.
Trevor looked after us and was well informed about the McGuigan Wines. At a cost of $10 per person, you get a choice of 6 wines to taste. This cost is not deducted if you purchase wines. However for every 6 wines you purchase, you get a seventh (lowest cost of those you purchase) for free.
The grapes for the wines come from many regions rather than just Hunter Valley.
We particularly enjoyed (and purchased a selection including) the Mastercraft Noon Harvest Shiraz (a sweeter Shiraz), Mastercraft Personal Reserve Langhorne Creek Cab Sav (deeper flavours and priced a little more than others), and Mastercraft Shiraz.
McGuigan is worth a visit and their wines are good for the tasting.
