During our 6 days in Orange we visited 5 wineries and one cidery. The standout as an overall experience was Heifer Station because of the cellar door decor, gracious Chewie, our host, and quality of the wines particularly the Pinot Noir ones which were different to the other cool climate Pinot Noirs we had tasted elsewhere. We were so impressed we bought a mixed dozen wines and joined their cellar club. This is a definite winery to go to and, ideally, visit midweek when you can spend more time for questions and tasting.

We are impressed with staff members from visitor center, very helpful and friendly. Their suggestions were good as per asked questions. Spending some time inside the visitor center with young kids is really recommended and must be first place to start holiday in Orange city:)

Nicole who owns the winery with her beloved took us through a wine tasting which included matching wines to individual types of Cuvee chocolates. We had been out bushwalking, ambling to mystery caves and we arrived bedraggled at Rowlee wines ready to be revived. We were tantalised. Transported. Each sip, each savour took us somewhere new - Andromeda, Centaurus, Ursa Major. Each wine, each chocolate delivered us to a new constellation of delight. Nicole is an angel of the Orange precinct. Encounter her expertise in matters of the vineyard and your cup will be filled, your joy will be complete.

This is quite a beautiful park with just about everything you could possibly expect to be in a park actually being there.

Apart from the fantastic range of trees (elms, cedars, pines etc), shrubs, plants and flowers there is a bandstand, a duck pond/lake with its very own "Nessie" and a bridge over it, some fountains, an aviary, a fernery, some WWII artillery pieces, a children's playground and what we considered to be the piece de resistance, the conservatory filled with the most beautiful display of Begonias. Fabulous and well worth a look.

We visited the lake on a lovely sunny day and did the walk around it. Lots of families enjoying the day - my husband swam across and back. We only had coffee from the cafe as it was morning but the menu did look good.

A really lovely start to the day with their tasting plus nibbles plate for $25pp.

Pip was friendly, efficient and relaxed meaning we could sit back and pontificate while enjoying local cheese, prosciutto, hazelnuts and peaches. GF option avail.

Sadly we didn’t take any reds with us (a very rare occasion indeed!) as we found them too acidic for our palate, but we took the NV bubbles and oaked chardy to enjoy later.

Great building, chilled out tasting style and definitely worth doing the wine+platter combo.

Our favourite of all the vineyards we visited. The staff were fantastic and the vista superb. We bought too many bottles :-) Lots of space for the kids to play on the sprawling lawn in front of the tasting area.

We visited this fabulous playground with 5 children aged between 6-12 years old.
    Everyone LOVED it.
Lots of swings, slides and places for imagination plus a scooter track too!
We spent a few hours here and this kids still weren’t ready to leave.
There are lovely places to have a picnic too with picnic tables.
It’s right next door to the Botanical Gardens which we enjoyed a walk through to get to the playground ( even though it can be accessed via car with a car park next to it )

    Glamping.
We went to Orange to go Glamping and enjoyed all of it.
Orange itself is worth about 7 pages of review but I will just say we had a fantastic time everywhere we went.
Nashdale Wines has the Glamping tents right next to the Cellar door in a little private area and they were perfect and private.
Great tents with all the facilities and comfort of a hotel but outside in the vines. Great little kitchen with all the bits you need and quality appliances. Bathroom good with big shower etc etc and extravagant soaps, shower gel etc etc.
White sheets on a big bed and a BBQ and area outside to relax and watch the bunnies frolic in the starlight.
10 minutes from town so easy to get around and see the sites.
Enjoyed ourselves and want to go again as soon as we can.

Great place to visit if you are interested in old gold mining areas but take your food and water as there is nothing there but old gold digs and pretty scenery

This is a very modern contemporary gallery with several different large exhibitions spaces and a theatre.

When we visited there were three major exhibitions being works by William Kentridge (including quite an informative video in the theatre), Salvatore Zofrea and Aimee Gordyne. Unfortunately none of these really appealed to me but I was pleased to have seen them.

This is an excellent exhibition area.
