What travellers are saying
- VictorianladMelbourne, Australia16,565 contributionsWe enjoyed a brief repeat visit to these long-established gardens.
Everything was neat and tody with two Council gardeners hard at work removing palm fronds.
The grass was green, there was plenty of seating and the temperature was pleasant, though little sun as it was autumn.
Overall a nice little walk, complemented by the 100 year old entrance.
Don't miss the obelisk highlighting the Hume (of Hume and Hovell explorer fame) tree site. Those men were marvellous pioneers and deserve much bigger recognition than they typically receive from Australian schoolteachers today.Written 29 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Maurice CMelbourne, Australia229 contributionsA very pleasant spot for a picnic, a short walk or just for morning or afternoon tea sitting by the river.Written 31 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Sonja B70 contributionsWhat a fabulous place to see and experience the sheer volume of water being released. It's a beautiful parkland space to sit as well, so enjoy the walk across the dam wall as well as the green spaces.Written 5 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- VictorianladMelbourne, Australia16,565 contributionsAn enjoyable walk with the added bonus on the return of plenty of seating in the well maintained Albury Botanic Gardens.
I especially liked how the monument is in line with the similarly whitewashed footbridge built about a decade ago over the Sydney - Melbourne rail line and noisy Hume Freeway.Written 29 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Maurice CMelbourne, Australia229 contributionsA wide range of contemporary art, supported by very helpful staff. Large contemporary display space in a very modern building carefully connected to two heritage buildings.Written 31 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Charles W1 contributionWe came across Wonga Wetlands by chance when driving from Albury to Corowa. We are very pleased that we decided to stop and explore. There are 2 tracks that wander along the levees.
If you have about an hour, take the Red Track. The scenery is beautiful and the birds are enchanting as the flit around.
The sign boards certainly added to our understanding of what we were seeing.Written 12 February 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Sonja B70 contributionsA very informative and friendly staff member assisted us in planning our 4 day stay. Many thanks also for dining recommendations.Written 5 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- MCCliftonSydney, Australia28 contributionsAn easy, charming walk on a good surface; abundant bird life; interesting sculptures; we particularly liked the kookaburras and The Big Picture.Written 2 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- CanberrascooterCanberra, Australia635 contributionsLovely walking in Australian bush near the iconic Murray river. Plenty of wildlife to see with Pelicans, parrots, other bird life, and fish jumping.Written 9 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- VictorianladMelbourne, Australia16,565 contributionsThis is Albury-Wodonga's most beautiful non-Church building.
In 1962, it celebrated the linking of NSW and Victoria by completion of a standard gauge line between Melbourne's then Spencer St sttaion, the Dynon rail yards and through Wodonga to Albury.
On my most recent visit in April 2022, using the excellent XPT train operated by NSW TrainLink from Melbourne to Albury (the train running twice a day, and which continues on to Sydney), the waiting room had been recarpeted.
The toilets were spotless.
Three V/Line trains per day each way from Melbourne also use the station while there's various road coach connections.Written 29 April 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. - Maurice CMelbourne, Australia229 contributionsA very well presented and informative display which provides an interest overview of the history of some of Albury's institutions, streets and particularly very well known sporting locals, known in Australia and in some cases World wide.Written 31 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- Navigator60655328 contributionsWe all cried when fire ravaged this building. The community gave much to resurrect this loved church. Some treasures were lost then others gleaned. Superb creation - bell tower too.Written 1 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
- ricks12016Melbourne, Australia201 contributionsNice little market, food stalls, bric a brac. Good way to kill an hour or two. Bought fruit and vegetables at a very cheap price.Written 24 February 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC.
