Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

To be candid I am not a fan of LOTR, however, I am married to, and gave birth to 3 nerds. That being said, I really enjoyed the outing. While I didn't understand the movie references, being in the same place as this or that scene, I enjoyed the backstory of how the movie was made and many more details our guide Solly shared with us. His enthusiasm for the books and movie was paramount to him being an exceptional guide. It was an immersive experience.
I had many emails with Kate prior to and after the booking. She was always quick to respond and very helpful. I had messed up the days I thought our tour was to be on. Kate made arrangements with Solly to come in to do our tour. That is exceptional customer service. Solly is also a talented singer that treated us to songs from the soundtrack.

Really a great experience that you can’t never miss it.
We had practice a lot before going up to the hill. Our instructor, Benjamin takes care of our safety throughout the journey and makes sure that we have well understanding of the operation of the quad.
Once you reach the summit of the queenstown hill, you will become speechless, just enjoy the peace of silence and the beauty of the nature.

Easily one of the highlights from our entire trip. Being huge LOTR nerds, we loved every single place that David took us to see. He was so informative, kind, and the most fun tour guide we could've asked for on this adventure. The costumes were the icing on the cake, being able to take some hobbit-inspired photos!! Traveling along the mountain in small narrow roads were so fun. We went over some fords and truly went deep into the wilderness! Thank you David for being an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide that we could "nerd-out" with! :)

Wow, what a breathtaking tour, from the warm welcome to the first view point overlooking Queenstown with commentary and explanations of the filming locations. Then up to the view points overlooking the shotover river and into Arrowtown and up to the river crossing. Awesome journey finished with a brief tour of Skippers Canyon, which was absolutely amazing. It was a great afternoon with our knowledgeable guide who explained all the filming locations and could answer all of our questions. Fantastic - highly recommended for all ages

Did the buggy adventure as a present to my husband for our 20th wedding anniversary. Best present ever he said! Dave was amazing at making sure we knew what we were doing. Beautiful scenery, with informative historical information along the way. We had so much fun!! Highly recommend this tour.

OMG...This place is AMAZING! Went to Oxbow as part of an adventure trip and it was off the charts memorable! The Jet Sprint Boating and Ultimate Off-Roading is next level - a MUST for adrenaline junkies! Loved the Clay Target shooting and axe throwing as well. The place is breathtaking. Had the chance to meet one of the founders during the trip and he shared they created this brainchild during Covid. The equipment is custom made in concert with a World Champion and the one-of-a-kind experience lives up to the promise. Their team is wonderful. This is a small business that delivers huge - A rare combination of fun, world-class adventure and hospitality. Highly recommend this and hope to be back!

Lovely hike on a track through trees up the mountain with the sight and sound of waterfalls along the way. We had a small group of 4, luckily, and walked just over 16 km in around 5.5 hrs total trip. The walk was a steady rise with a few minor steep bits but nothing major. It was a there and back trek with a picnic halfway. The weather was kind and the scenery beautiful with some lovely waterfalls containing crystal clear water, stunning. Our guide, Jono, was extremely knowledgeable, not just about the route but also Māori cultural in general. He was good at checking in on how we were feeling, conscious of the return walk, giving options for us to choose on distance and highlighting time between toilets. Jono was a definite bonus.
This is not a walk for young children however there is the longer possibilities for those wanting to trek further. Routeburn Track provides different levels of challenge, you choose what you want. A great day out.

The friendly staff at isite Queenstown assisted me with my "must do" list on my recent visit. They also recommended the Nomad Safaris Skippers Canyon 4WD tour. Adrian was an excellent driver and guide on this small group afternoon tour. The scenery is spectacular and the road was not as hairy as some people had told me. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are visiting Queenstown.

We went out for a night of stargazing and astrophotography with Simon. It was a brilliant night. We were lucky with the weather and had a clear, cloudless sky. Simon taught us a lot about the stars and solar system and how indigenous cultures in the region advance our ideas, and how to find what I needed to improve my astrophotography. He made it easy and fun, and the images he took of us are gorgeous. Also, he provides excellent hot chocolate and an additional warm coat for when the temperature drops. I couldn’t recommend this enough. It was fun and informative.

Gordon, our guide and driver could not have provided a more enjoyable, comprehensive, informative and accommodating morning for our group. His local knowledge and driving skills combined into a first class commentary for the entire journey through spectacular scenery and jaw dropping vistas. A trip well worth making for anyone visiting Queenstown.

Fabulous trip- incredible scenery, perfectly paced scenic walks. We ended up with just the two of us so really lovely time- went to Bobs cove for a 1 hour walk and then off to Routeburn track and a 1 hour Naturevwalk. Charles was incredibly knowledgeable and helped us see and learn more. The lunch stop in Glenorchy was delightful. Totally worth it!

I really enjoyed an afternoon tour to Paradise and Glenorchy on 29 May. Libby was an excellent guide and driver. It was a small group which was nice. The audio of Maori myths and early settlers was very interesting and the scenery and photo stops were spectacular. Glenorchy is a quaint little town and I had plenty of time to take photos. I would definitely recommend this tour if you are visiting Queenstown.

We went to Glenorchy and Skippers in New Zealand on 6th Feb 2024. This we did from our hotel in Queenstown. It was around 7 hours of photography tour and we loved every bit of it. Skippers and Glenorchy are in opposite directions from Queenstown and the landscape in both these places is also different from one another. Skippers has rugged , canyon like landscape and Glenorchy is lakes, meadows, hills (typical of South island) . Road to Glenorchy has several super beautiful places where you will be compelled to take snaps. The scenery is so amazing that we can't believe we went to those places when we look at the photos today. We went halfway towards Paradise from Glenorchy and out there was a place where we found just us and sheep and beautiful landscape and fresh air.

Our Tour Guide Aistl is very joyful, talkative, knowledgeable and helpful. She treated Me and My wife like old friends. We had one of the most enjoyable times with her on the 20 day New Zealand and Australia Trip. She called us a day in advance and confirmed the participation. Then she asked us where we wish to travel from Queenstown. She recommended Skippers for its different landscape. In Skippers she took us to those scenic hill tops and herself walked to a nearby hill top (actually top of a canyon) walking in her flip flops and took several wonderful photos using our camera. My wife wanted to drive the car in NZ (she has an INTL license) and Aistl gladly obliged. Aistl would not let a moment of boredom come with her interesting stories about life in NZ, her home country and our own culture. It was fun filled 7-8 hrs with her with several photographs. We would certainly recommend this tour for the guide and the different scenary

It was our first time to join a photography tour. Aiste photography has provided us a lovely memory of Queenstown which is unique and personal. Aiste responded to our enquiry promptly. She picked us up at 6 am and we drove out of town in her comfortable Range Rover. The sunrise scenery and the locations she took us were amazing. There is no doubt she is an artist photographer because we have learnt the photographic tips how to make nice compositions, aperture and to catch the good moments. Nevertheless, she was very helpful and took some beautiful photos for us too. We felt we were having another wedding photos taken after forty years. The snack provided were all New Zealand products. We love com back in winter time to join her tour again!
