Awesome place for whole family. We saw the Rita Angus show and that was fantastic along with natural NZ exhibits. Ever seen a Moa skeleton? Very cool.

Highly recommend this tour if you visit Wellington. Took our 2 young kids (7 & 10 year old) who throughly enjoyed it.
Rob our tour guide was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond including playing and singing happy birthday to our son.
Enjoyed visiting all of the key rooms including the debating room, the press room where they hold the daily covid press conferences and the great hall.
We weren’t expecting to enjoy it as much as we did with my partner saying it had been a real highlight.
No photos are allowed to be taken during the tour but we quite liked that.
Definitely a must do in Wellington!

I did run out of time to view the inside of this church but loved the outside all the same, next time I return to Wellington I plan to visit again and take a look around the inside :)

A good day out if you’re staying in the Martinborough or Greytown areas. The lighthouse is about an hour’s drive away at the end of the road along the southeast Wairarapa coast. As you’d expect, the lighthouse is on a prominent point. It’s also at the top of a very steep flight of some 250 steps! Rugged and wild coastal scenery. Be ready for strong winds. There’s a toilet at the car park.

If you’re heading out to the Cape, it’s worth combining the outing with the 1.5 hour Pinnacles Track just a few kilometres down the road. Also consider stopping in at the historic Lake Ferry Hotel for lunch or refreshments.

I always come across Oriental Bay to Freyberg pool. It is beautiful and serene by feeling the wind. Overall, it is the best place to jog, walk, work out and swim at Freyberg pool.

Good hike to combine with a trip to Cape Palliser lighthouse. About a 1.5 hour return trip from the car park to the Pinnacles. Amazing rock formations; you can see why it was selected for a LOTR filming location. You can either walk straight up the stream bed and back (many small stream crossings) or do one way via the stream bed and the other way via the Pinnacles Track to take in the lookout.

Sturdy footwear required. There are toilets at the car park.

Enjoyed trolling through this street mall as lots of shops, eating places, cafes and street performers abound. Look for bargains along the way or just sip coffee at one of the cafes to watch the world go by. Colourful and funky precinct. Would recommend checking it out during the day time but be careful as it starts to get dark. Sometimes some dodgy characters abound.

The walk was long, but it was definitely worth it. The seals and rock formations were spectacular. We had a great time and will come again.

Not the first time I'd been into this museum, but as always, it was a great place to wander around. I love the ambience of Wellington Museum, including the building itself. This visit, there were some rooms open that I didn't notice previously (Wellington Harbour Board old board rooms), which added some new intrigue. Overall, it really is a great museum and I really do recommend it for anyone when in the waterfront area.

for ages I have seen this war memorial either on tv or in pictures and have always wanted to go and visit, personally I quite like seeing all the different war memorials there are around, so I made sure I had the time to be able to come and see this memorial when I had visited Wellington, I would have gone along to the Dawn service there also, maybe next time when I go back. Once again a pretty amazing Memorial

How many cities in the world can say they have 100 hectares of native forest and this is the only public botanic garden in NZ dedicated to native plants.
Easy wheelchair access for some of the walks and there are at least six treks.
We did the red trek which is mainly steps and in some places steep which takes you to a waterfall .
There is a picnic domain with bbq and a stream with eels, great for family picnics or children birthdays.
There is a toilet in the domain area.

A beautiful bay with a busy restaurant (for sale) on the waterfront! Highly recommended if you like a buzzing cafe!
